DAKOTA POV

I grabbed the biggest pack of fireworks they had and the total came out to $100. I handed them the money and took the fireworks back to my house with Ethan.

It's not 4th of July but I always do fireworks on New Years, just to be extra since I don't really like parties and shit.

I moved any flammable objects away from the street and made sure no cars were coming.

I waited until the time said 11:59:30 and laid the fireworks out.

Ethan, Raquel, Jake, and I, yelled 3,2,1 and I lit the fireworks and ran back.

They sparked up and then zoomed into the sky, bursting and reading Happy New Years!

I smiled at the sight and checked the time on my phone.

12:00

I smiled at the thought of a new year, fresh start.

I looked over at Ethan and Jake who were frantic, and before I could question, I felt hands grab me, and then a horrible pain in my stomach and chest.

I felt my body hit the floor, and all I saw was black, and the faint colors of the firework, the Happy New Years beginning to fade away.

RAQUEL POV

"DAKOTA! OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES! KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN- SHE'S CLOSING HER EYES! SOMEBODY FUCKING HELP"

Jake threw his shirt off and used to to cover her wounds and Ethan picked her up and ran to the car, carrying her.

He put her in and we all jumped in and he sped to the nearest hospital as fast as he could.

ETHAN POV

I sat in the waiting room with Jacob and Raquel, as we waited for the next update from the doctor.

Raquel was completely hysterical and Jacob hasn't said a word.

I'd already called the necessary family members and we all waited.

I wasn't the type to usually get anxiety but I was uneasy as shit right now.

I was about to lose the one shorty that's cared about me. On top of that, it was my fault.

If I wouldn't have been so fucking lazy I could've gotten a normal job and not have gotten into gang shit.

My nerves eventually ate me up, I couldn't take it anymore.

As I was getting up, the doctor walked up to us with a frown. I started backing up and Raquel stared in fear.

"Who should I speak to, in relation to Dakota Marine?"

We all stood, along with Dakota & Raquel's moms, Raquel's dad, and Dakota's dad was on his way.

She nodded and examined all 6 of us, bringing us into Dakota's room.
