A Sight you've Never Seen Before ~ Free! Fanfiction

Part 1

 A/N: As i'm sure you already know, I don't own Free! or any of its characters. This is just for pure enjoyment blah blah blah. And by reading this story I don't owe you any new feels, ok? Good, now enjoy~

  Haru's P.O.V

  I touched the slick wall of the large pool and lifted my head out of the shining water. I looked up at the scoring board. 1st place: Iwatobi. 'I did it, I won the 100m free finals! But what about Rin?' I tried not to let my emotions slip through as I was internally congratulating myself.

  "No way," I whispered. My eyes widened as I looked at the score board. Second place wasn't Rin, it was another school. Then 3rd place, 4th, 5th... School names and numbers kept flashing by, each number getting bigger as more names passed. I didn't even notice Rei, Makoto and Nagisa running from the bleachers towards me until Makoto was right in front of me.

  "Congratulations, Haru," Makoto extended a hand to me with a big smile. I  grabbed his hand and got out of the pool.

  "Haru-chan you're the best!" Nagisa ran to me and hugged a little too hard. I didn't notice to my lungs being crushed and I just kept staring at the scoreboard with a blank face.  

  "Haru, is something wrong?" Rei asked with a concerned face. They all looked over at the scoreboard, soon joining me with blank faces. Rin's name was no where to be found.

  "What?" Makoto face's was plastered with confused expression and his skin was turning pale.

  "This..." Rei looked away and crossed his arms. He scrunched his brows and looked like he was in deep thought. Probably think about how this could've happened.

  "Rin-chan?" Nagisa made a pained expression and tears started to form in his purple eyes. I averted my eyes from my team mates and saw Rin. He was walking towards the locker rooms with Nitori following not far behind.

  "Don't worry Senpai, everyone has their off days!" Nitori told Rin with a big smile on his face, but I could tell that his eyes were saying something different.

  "SHUT UP!" Rin yelled angrily and swung an arm towards Nitori. He dodged Rin's attack and stopped walking. His eyes were full of pain and sorrow while looking at Rin who was walking away.

  "Senpai..." Nitori whispered, he was standing still with his arms dangling at his sides and his eyes were now filled with tears. I slipped away from the group and staggered towards Rin. That soon turned into a slow walk, a jog, then a full out sprint.

  'How could Rin get last place? What's wrong with him?' I thought while running over to Rin. But soon a thought struck me. 'Now that I won finals in stead of Rin, he will have this huge gap in his career as a swimmer. And knowing him he's probably gonna- no. He wouldn't do that. Stop swimming?.' I started to slow down. Everything started to get blurry from tears and dizziness. The last thing he heard was Makoto's yell. Then everything went black.
