Another day has passed, and all Gerard can think about it Frank. Yesterday he was sick, and still thinking about Frank.
"Hi!" Lindsey says. "Hello Lindsey, uh, do you know a kid named Frank?" Gerard asks. "I don't know a Frank, I'm sorry, Gerard." Lindsey responds. Gerard frowns. "Okay." He responds. Gerard walks off waving to Lindsey. She waves back. "Frank?" Gerard calls out. No response. Gerard didn't exactly expect one.
Later that day, Gerard gets to his house, but nobody is home. Well, Mikey and Pete are there but that's not much. Gerard runs to his room, packs a bag and runs out of the house, grabbing his red flannel. He walks to the cliff, the place where Frank is going October 7th. Gerard gets there, and he sits on the edge. He hears steps, they sound like a person walking up the cliff.
The person walks over to Gerard. "Hi." Gerard says, looking at the ground, his legs swinging over the cliff. "Hello." The person responds. "I'm Gerard. What's your name?" Gerard asks. "Ryan." He responds. "Oh, okay. Well, what are you doing here Ryan?" Gerard asks. "Planning. 3 days." Ryan responds. "3 days? October 7th! Frank?" Gerard calls out, not remembering that this is Ryan. "Yeah. Frank." Ryan responds. "I'm Frank." Ryan adds. "Wait...your Frank? You wrote this?" Gerard asks, pulling the note out of his pocket and handing it to "Ryan". Ryan freezes. "Y-yes." Ryan stutters. "Wait, you're Frank? You want to end everything?" Gerard asks, tears forming in his eyes. "Yes. I've been looking for someone to save me. Are you the one?" Frank asks. "Yes! I'll save you, Frank!" Gerard responds. Frank sits down next to Gerard and grabs his own hand. "Can you take me?" Frank asks. "Where?" Gerard asks. "Away from my psychopathic mom. She's the most anti-Frank person in the world." Frank responds, crying.
"I'll do anything to save you, Frank. Anything." Gerard says, tearing up. Frank smiles for the first time in weeks. Gerard grabs Frank's hand, Frank tries to pull away, but Gerard tightens the grip, walking towards the Way residence. Gerard actually feels a spark of life, like he has a reason to be here. They arrive at Gerard's house pretty quickly, it isn't that far. Gerard opens the door quietly, noticing his mother isn't home. Gerard runs to his basement room and Frank runs after him. "You can sit anywhere you want." Gerard says, taking off his red flannel. Frank sits down on Gerard's small couch. Knock, knock, knock. Gerard walks over to his door, slightly opening it. "Mikey!" He exclaims, hugging Mikey. "I just wanted to make sure you were home. Mother isn't coming home at all tonight." Mikey says. "Okay." Gerard responds, smiling. Mikey smiles, and waves goodbye, shutting the door. "Mikey?" Frank asks. "Oh, Mikey is my little brother. He's fourteen." Gerard responds. "Okay." Frank says. "Can I tell you something?" Frank asks. "Sure. I'm all ears." Gerard says. "The reason my mom hates me, I feel you should know. The reason is I'm gay, and an idiot." Frank says. "I'm gay too." Gerard responds. That was the first time he came out. Frank smiles.
