The constant ringing in her ears mixed with the cheers and boos of the crowd didn't make her situation any better. She spat out the weird liquid she had in her mouth. Of course by now she already knew what blood tasted and smelled like. She could hear a faint 'eww' in the crowd. She opened her eyes to look at her opponent which in her state was a blur, a huge 6.5ft blur. She knew she was doomed from the moment she saw her opponent. "Is that all you've got you dirty void of a cunt?" She forced herself to say.
Tearaze, her opponent didn't use her real name which meant she had a meaningful life outside the ring and was only there for fun. It was sickening. Tearaze grabbed a fist full of her opponents red hair and in a fluid motion, she hit her opponents head against her knee cap.
The crowd fell silent and only the ringing in her ears could be heard. In a painfully slow fall, She hit the ground and heard the crowds cheers she thought couldn't get any louder. When she couldn't take it anymore, she passed out.
A/N Write a fight scene they said, It'll be fun they said.
Demetrise sat on her bunked bed and held the tiny ice pack to her swollen eye although it was the blow to her pride that hurt more. She didn't move a muscle when the iron doors to her tiny room too close to the underground ring burst open.
"One month, One fucking month!" Mr Monroe came rushing in with two other huge guys following behind. "You haven't won a match in one month!" he finished
"In my defense..." Demetrise started
"Yeah, one of the many things you lacked on the ring today" He sighed. "We had a deal Metrise" She hated it when they called her that. "I can't keep providing for you if you're not gonna fetch money"
"It wasn't a fair fight" She looked at her employer, her emerald eyes begging him to give her another chance.
"You should go look for a job somewhere else"

"I'm sorry Miss but this is a struggling establishment and hiring new emoloyees is the last thing on our to do list right now""You don't have to pay me much, I'll take anything please" The male manager of the coffe shop looked at her from head to toe, well as far as he could see behind the high table.
"You're a beautiful young girl, I'm sure you'll find a decent place to work, just not here I'm sorry"
Demetrise stood up and grabbed her bag from the cold floor, leaving without a word. The sun was setting. She sighed and tried not to think too much about the night and the cold that came along with it. With no hope of food nor shelter, she continued her search for a job and walked into a bookstore. No one was gonna hire her, she looked very much like a hobo in her worn out clothes stained with dirt and what looked like dried blood.
"Hi, how may I help you?" The older woman who sat behind the counter tried to keep her smile and gaze on her face and not crease her brows at her customers entire appearance with her thick glasses.
"I need a job, I wanted to..."
"We're not hiring" The older woman cut her off.
"But if you could just..." Demetrise tried to make her understand.
"...and if we do decide to hire later on, It most definitely wouldn't be someone like you" She finished not letting go of her smile.
Dememtrise's protruding left eye gave people the wrong idea about her and she knew it. Well not entirely wrong though. She heeded to the call of her growling stomach, not to seek a job but to eat, she walked into a diner even when she had no money. She took a seat in one of the booths, peeled off her jacket and placed her schoolbag on the floor too cautious of the neat leather sofa.
"Hello, welcome to Jays diner, what can I get you?" a blonde girl asked just after she got comfortable.
Demetrise looked at the menu placed in front of her, checking carefully the prices of every meal before saying "I'll call you when I decide" The waitress left and Demetrise took a closer look at the menu while gradually nibbling on the free breadstics on the table. What she really came here for. It went on for a couple of minutes. Of course she really wasn't gonna order anything.
"No one told me the breadsticks were that good"
Shocked, Demetrise dropped the menu she was using as a shield from onlookers and knocked off the basket of breadsticks from the table. "Shit, there goes my dinner" She cursed some more and looked at the man who had scared her. A waitress rushed over and cleaned up the little mess on the floor. "I'm so sorry" Demetrise apologised to the waitress and expected a scolding of some sort but only got a smile from the waitress instead.
"Are you ready to order now Miss?" The waitress asked.
"Uhm, actually, I think I'm just gonna ..."
"She'll have the special rice curry and the kimichi that comes with it" The strange man ordered and the waitress looked at Demetrise for aproval. When she nodded slightly, the waitress took his order and left.
"Who are you" Demetrise asked
"You're welcome" He replied earning a confused glare from her.
"What do you want?" She tried again.
"I'm just buying a meal, no harm in that" Demetrise glared at him a little while longer"Okay, fine. I saw you walk in and I followed you". "I'm Edmund" He said after a long pause "What's your name?"
"Demetrise" She said. "So, Demetrise, wanna tell me what happened to your eye?"
"You're about to eat, sure you can stomach it?"
"Actually no, I don't think I can" He looked disgusted and she smirked.
The waitress came with the meal after a long moment of awkward silence between the two. Edmund payed for it in large bills and a huge tip. Demetrise dug into her meal and refused to stop when she burped in satisfaction. 'I may never get a decent meal like this for a very long time' she said to herself. Everything good came with a price and she waited for Edmund to name his. She didn't have to wait long though.
"I need you to be my fiance" He stated bluntly.
