Demetrise collapsed on the bed that evening and let out a long sigh. She took off her shoes and tossed them far away from her in pure hate and anguish. "Ed!!!!" She screamed and when she got no answer she knew he wasn't back yet. "I'm gonna kill that bloody demon" She said to herself as she thought about everything she had to endure today. The dance routine, "Oh my God the bloody dance routine" She thought about her instructor, male and very french and then the darkness that came with sleep envelpoed her.

The next day wasn't pretty either. She had to learn to speak without using any curse words and it turned out to be a fucking disaster, the dances continued, history, literature and of course she had to learn how to speak the traditional language of Gwenleria which was even worse for she could swear her tutor cursed her so many times when she said the wrong thing. Edmund didn't say anything about getting private lessons, the bastard.

Demetrise made herself some pancakes for breakfast. There was enough groceries to last a very long time in the kitchen so she helped herself. She hadn't seen Edmund in a week and if not for Jennifer who occasionally came over and told her about Edmunds activity at work, she would have been scared out of her mind. She was careful to not mention the fact that Edmund wasn't staying with her though, how would she explain that to Jennifer? Classes were getting easier by the day which mean't she was getting better or her tutors got tired. Most of her days off were spent alone which bored her to hell and back. Sometimes she found herself staring into space, like right now. "Shit" she flipped the pancakes as the burning stench reached her nose "Goddammit She watched the once creamy side of the pancake turn black and crispy.

"Keep cursing like that and I might just have to fire your tutors"

Demetrise snapped her gaze to the entrance of the kitchen area and there he was in all his coated and scarfed glory. She watched him walk over to her and somehow, she lost the ability to form words. She hated to admit it but she missed having him around, he didn't make her feel that familiar sense of loneliness she was used to.

"It's a good thing you won't need to cook in Gwenleria" He looked at her burned pancakes and put off the stove. He was close, too close and as he looked at her, he said "Hi" and smiled.

"I'm surprised the crocodile let you go" She commented.

"So am i" He said and only realized what he had said when he saw Demetrise's raised brow and smirking lips "Wait, no, that's not what I mean't"

"Well you should have given me a heads up before leaving me for that long but you are my boss so i'll let it slide just this once" She said as she walked away from the kitchen to secretly catch her breath. He's just a guy Demetrise, fucking breathe.

"We leave for Gwenleria tonight" He said as he retrieved an enclosed file from the table in the living room and handed it to her. "Read the terms, if you're okay with it, sign and give it back to me"

"Alright." She took it from him and couldn't help but notice how his fingers twitched. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, why?"

"You seem...edgy"

"I'm alright. Jennifer will be taking you out this afternoon for a few things. Her words, not mine"

"And where will you be?"

"Why? scared I might disappear on you again?"

"Actually? yes, I am" She said and they were both quiet for a while as they stared at each other for reasons quite unknown to her. She cursed herself mentally to hell and back for not being able to shut her stupid mouth, how desperate could she really get?

Edmund cleared his throat as he walked back to the kitchen with an intention to finish making the breakfast she started. He had no Idea why things suddenly became so weird between them.

"I swear to freaking god Demetrise if I see you in anymore of these ridiculous outfits i'll...i'll..." Jennifer screamed at Demetrise as soon as she saw her.

"Hi Jennie, nice to meet you. You might wanna keep it down, your boss is somewhere in the house" Demetrise said and tossed the file Edmund gave her on the bedside table.

"Fuck" she cursed and whispered "Change up, We're going to a spa, then a saloon. Edmund just told me when you'd be leaving and I swear to god, if he wasn't my boss then I would have ..."

"Hello Miss Jennifer" Edmund called from the doorway of the bedroom

"Mr Strafford" She drawled and cracked up a big smile "What a surprise"

"To see me in my hotel suite? So surprising" He commented "Bring her back early, we have a lot of packing up to do"

"Of course Mr Starafford" she said still maintaining her almost blinding grin as he turned and left. "Hurry up, I don't know if I can keep this up any longer" She whispered referring to her fake smile.

Demetrise brought out a blue dress and put it on when she received a nod of aproval from Jennifer.

"You're getting really good at this" Jennifer commented causing Demetrise to smile. "You have quite a lot of scars" She said to herself and gasped when she realized she said it out loud. "Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to..."

"It's okay, I do have a lot of scars." Demetrise admitted and shrugged of the memories most of the scars brought with them. "Can we go now?"

"Yes, Of course" Jennifer nodded and led them out.

"Come close to me with those scisors and I'll punch into you a brain tumor" Demetrise squinted and glared at the man who nervously looked at Jennifer.

"Relax, It's just a trim" Jennifer said

"I don't need a fucking trim, my hair is perfect"

"It's too long" Jennifer said and the man nodded gingerly

"I like it that way"

"Demetrise..."

"Please" Demetrise gave Jennifer her pleading look "Please"

"Fine, Just do something else. Don't cut it" Jennifer sighed in defeat

"Thank you" Demetrise looked back at her reflection in the mirror. After the time she spent at the spa, her skin glowed and her freckles shone like little red stars on her nose and on ther cheeks. She knew she was beautiful, it was one of the reasons why she was still alive and also why her life was so fucked up. Heck, it's the reason Edmund offered her the job. Her emerald eyes was the finishing touch that her red hair complemented.

When the stylist was done, her butt was sore and her knees were week "Tell me I only have to do this annually" She groaned as she hopped in the car

Jennifer giggled "Oh I'll miss you so much Demetrise"

"Me too" She hugged Jennifer and they pulled away when the car hit a speed bump

"From what I've heard and seen, the Straffords can be really mean so you have to be strong."

"You don't have to tell me twice"

"And please invite me to the goddamned wedding, I haven't attended one since I was 10. I need a reason to wear all those fancy dresses i bought" She sniffed

There will be no wedding Jennifer, this is all a lie "Of course" She said instead and the car stopped.

"We're here" Jennifer sniffled

"Will you please stop crying"

"I'm not fucking crying okay?! I've gt something stuck in my eye"

"Ah, of course. I'll be back" She gave Jennifer one last hug before getting out of the car. She waved and watched the car leave with a crying Jennifer. "Thats too much emotion for one day, how does she do it?"
