Later, the other royals came to the ER to make sure Sofia was okay.

"Amber, did you hear anything about Sofia?" Roland asked.

"Not yet," Amber replied.

Suddenly, Lady Melody came out. "Your Majesties, good to see you," she smiled.

"Good to see you, Lady Melody," Samira smiled back.

"Is Sofia going to be okay?" Roland asked.

"She's in X-ray right now—we'll know in a few minutes," Lady Melody replied.

Later, the royals went in to see Sofia.

"Everything all right?" James asked.

"You feeling okay?" Amber asked.

"Just great, except my ankle is throbbing like my bones are in a wrestling match," Sofia replied.

Suddenly, Dr. Henderson and Lady Melody came in.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Sofia," Lady Melody apologized.

"Not a problem," Sofia said.

"I'm afraid your X-rays are no good," Dr. Henderson frowned. "Late tonight, you'll be having arthroscopic surgery on the right tibia."

Sofia was horrified at this, and so was everyone else—but there was something that left Amber and James curious.

"Arthroscopic?" Amber asked.

"Tibia?" James chimed in.

Hugo didn't want to scare Sofia even more than she already was, so he whispered to Amber and James, "It means they're going to perform keyhole surgery on Sofia's ankle. They're going to drill a hole."

"Oh, my," Miranda gasped.

"Not to worry—our best surgeon will perform the surgery," Lady Melody declared.

Sofia wasn't very happy about this.

Later, Sofia was put in a private room, Hugo, Axel, Amber, and James keeping her company while their parents and uncle were talking with someone. Sofia was just lying in her bed, fearing tonight's surgery.

"I don't blame you for not wanting to be here, Sofie—just look what this hospital did to my nose," Hugo gasped. It turned out he was wearing a red close nose, which made Sofia smile. "What? Don't you like my ribbon?" He had put a pink ribbon on his head, and Sofia tried not to giggle. "What kind of optometry clinic does this place have? These are the only good pair of glasses I could find." Now he was wearing a giant pair of goofy glasses.

Everyone started laughing, and it warmed their hearts to see Sofia was laughing. Roland, Miranda, Garrick, Samira, and Grimtrix came in, and they were pleased to see that Sofia was smiling.

"Very funny, Hugo," Samira chuckled, removing the pink ribbon from Hugo's head.

"Well, Sofia, we talked to the doctor, and they said Grimtrix will put a magic cast on you after the surgery to make you heal faster," Miranda said.

"Like the one he put on me when I had my knee surgery?" Hugo guessed.

"The very same," Grimtrix confirmed.

"Wow, thanks," Sofia smiled.

"Not a problem, dear—you shouldn't be sitting around for the summer while your ankle heals," Grimtrix smiled.

Everyone stayed with Sofia the whole evening, and it was already late at night. Soon enough, another doctor came in. "Princess Sofia?" he asked.

"That's me," Sofia confirmed.

"I'm Dr. Nichols, and I'll be performing your surgery," Dr. Nichols said.

"Okay," Sofia said.

Lady Melody came in and said, "Okay, visiting hours are over. We need to get Sofia ready for her surgery. Since Grimtrix will be putting a magic cast on Sofia, we'll permit him to stay. She'll be here until tomorrow afternoon."

"Okay," Grimtrix nodded. He turned to his family and said, "I'll be home after I put the cast on Sofia."

"Are you sure you'll be able to fly on a horse in the dark, Grim?" Garrick asked.

"Don't worry about me—I can just transport myself there," Grimtrix said.

"Very well," Samira said.

"We'll be back in the morning," Roland said.

"Okay," Sofia smiled.

Everyone left, but Grimtrix stayed in Sofia's room. Later, some nurses came in, and that meant it was time for the surgery.

"Good luck, dear," Grimtrix said.

"Thank you, Mr. Grimtrix," Sofia smiled.

The nurses rolled Sofia's bed out and into the operating room.

"Ready, princess?" Dr. Nichols asked.

"As I'll ever be," Sofia nodded.

Dr. Nichols put a mask over Sofia's nose and mouth, and she fell asleep.
