Adrien stepped off the jet and took a deep breath. The smell of sea and salt mingled in the air.

He was finally in Barbados and probably one step closer to finding Marinette.

The journey to get to Barbados was painful for Adrien. Those thoughts are the only things that are occupying his mind...

"Alya and I are going into the room. You okay out here by yourself?" Nino asked as he got up from beside Adrien.

The Prince, who had his head resting on his hand and his eyes gazing lazily out the window, nodded without sparing Nino a glance.

Nino sighed and took Alya's hand then he tugged her off to the room.

"Is he okay?" She asked and the dark skinned boy shook his head.

"No. And he won't be fine unless we get her back."

Adrien, who heard their conversation before they shut the door behind them, let out a sigh.

Of course he wasn't fine. He was breaking inside. He felt useless and pathetic. He felt as though he could've done something to prevent Marinette from getting kidnapped.

Maybe if the marriage between them didn't happen, she would have been in a better situation right now.

He opened his phone and looked at the pictures that have been haunting him for weeks.

Marinette's tear stained, bruised face met his eyes and he felt his heart crack. Her eyes looked so empty. Her skin looked awfully pale. Her eyes looked empty, completely different from the bright eyed girl he knew.

Seeing her in that state broke him.

A tear drop fell onto the phone screen. Then another.

And another...

Before he knew it, he was full blown crying.

"I'm sorry," He sobbed. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."

Shaking away those thoughts, he allowed his body guards to lead him to the car where Alya and Nino already sat.

"Are you feeling alright, Adrien?" Alya asked, eyeing him up and down when he entered the car. "Your eyes are super red."

Adrien forced a chuckle, "I'm fine, Alya. I didn't get any sleep at all on the way over here and I have been rubbing my eyes too much. All that has irritated my eyes, so that's why they're red. Don't worry about it."

Alya didn't believe a word that passed his lips. Her and Nino had heard him crying for almost the entire trip. He definitely wasn't fine.

"Adrien, you can talk to us, you know," Nino said, looking warily at the blond. "You don't have to bottle it all in."

Adrien's smile did not falter, "I said I'm okay! We'll find her. Stop worrying about me, guys."

Nino and Alya watched as Adrien turned his head to the window and allowed his smile to drop.

'He's not okay,' Alya mouthed to Nino and he nodded then mouthed,

'I know.'

Marinette's eyes shot open and she was immediately enveloped by darkness.

She felt some restraints around her hands and legs and she was gagged.

The pain in the side of her head, where Nathaniel had hit her, was giving her a severe headache.

She heard chains rattle and eyes searched the room. Sadly, she still couldn't see anything.
