Marinette stared out of the car through the window. She took in the sight of people looking at the car in wonder. Children ran around in the streets, laughing and playing around with each other. It brought a smile to her face.

She turned to Adrien and saw him in mid yawn. "Tired?" She asked, a guilty look in her eye. Last night she had a bad dream and decided that she had not wanted to go back to sleep for she didn't want to go through that again. Adrien had held her and refused to go back to sleep so he could keep her company. It was impossible to avoid the guilt that settled in the pit of her stomach.

"I should be asking you that question," Adrien chuckled, intertwining their fingers. Marinette gave him a stern look that said he should answer the question and stop trying to avoid it. "I'm not tired, Mari."

"I'm sorry for keeping you up all night, Adrien," She apologised, tightening her grip on his hand.

"Marinette," He called out to her sternly, "you did not keep me up. I chose to stay up with you, so stop feeling so guilty." He did not regret staying up with her. At  least now she knew that she was not alone and that he will always be by her side, no matter what.

She chewed on her bottom lip and gazed up at him through her lashes. "Okay," She muttered, her voice soft. Adrien had been trying so hard to make her feel happy again since she came back and she truly appreciated it, but she doesn't think she'll be like how she used to be. "Have you been to the trial house of the higher ups before?"

Adrien smiled sheepishly. He had stood in front of them a few times and he definitely wasn't proud of that. "Yes, I have. They aren't really that bad- well, it depends on what you did to land yourself there. I only did some minor stuff when I was younger that had made me end up standing in their house of peace."

Marinette was now intrigued. "What did you do?" She asked, her eyes practically sparkling with wonder. This made Adrien smile.

"Did you hear about the rumor that went around saying a prince had been spotted at a concert and was chased by over one hundred thousand people?"

Her eyes widened. "That was you?!"

"Yup," He grinned. "The only reason I ended up being sent to the higher ups was because people got hurt." He then rolled his eyes and pouted. "I didn't tell the people to follow me up a building and to jump. I have experience from jumping from building to building -- don't ask -- and it was obvious that they didn't. It wasn't my fault."

"You're an idiot," Marinette giggled, smacking his arm. "What was your punishment?" She needed something to get her mind off of the place they were now heading to. She would have to see him again and it pained her.

"I was on lockdown for two months. I couldn't leave my room unless I was going to eat dinner or get a book from the castle library. That was torture! At least ten guards followed me around each second. I was only sixteen at the time, what was I supposed to do in my room for two months?" Adrien chuckled at past memories. He had been such a delinquent, but all of that changed when he turned seventeen.

Marinette laughed. A beautiful, velvety laugh that sent a shiver down Adrien's spine. The good kind. It was refreshing to hear her laugh again. He missed this... He missed her.

Marinette caught Adrien looking at her and she rose an eyebrow at him. "Why are looking at me like that?"

He smiled softly and shook his head. "Nothing."

"What else did you do?" She asked, trying to ignore the fluttering in her stomach.

"Well, I spray painted an entire art gallery when I was thirteen and I got sent to the higher ups," He shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal. "I mean, I was a teenager. Didn't teenagers do stuff like that all the time?"

"I didn't hear about that one."

"They covered it up by saying it was a crazy fan girl who wrote Prince Adrien Rules on the most famous art gallery in France," Adrien grinned.

"You were such a delinquent, weren't you?" Marinette smiled, gazing up at the man who had saved her and stole her heart. She couldn't be more grateful for him in her life.

"I guess," He muttered, looking at his watch. He then let out a frustrated groan. "We've been driving for two hours. Why does it take so long to get there?"

"Mom said it was a three hour or more drive, so I guess we just have to be patient," Marinette told him and at that exact moment, an idea popped into his head.

The blunette narrowed her eyes at him when a smirk made its way onto his face and gasped when he suddenly pulled her onto his lap.

"I think I have something in mind that will make time pass by faster," He lightly held her waist and leaned closer to her.

Marinette wrapped her hands around his neck and pulled him closer. She might just like what he had in mind.

There he was.

The man that ruined her life. The man that scarred her body. The man that invaded her dreams at night. The man that broke her.

She gripped Adrien's hand tighter and leaned into his side. If it wasn't for him by her side, she probably would have broken down.

She rose her head and looked in front of her. Behind a very large table, on a raised platform, sat six people. All of them held straight faces that made her hands sweat.

"You all may be seated," The one who sat on the left, at the end, and had green hair spoke.

Everyone obliged and sat.

Marinette gazed around the room and saw some familiar faces. Her parents, King Gabriel, Juleka and her brother, Lila, Chloe and a few guards. She refused to even look at Nathaniel, but she could feel his gaze on her.

"One of our colleagues will not be here today because of personal reasons. We will introduce ourselves then the trial will begin," the green haired man spoke again. "I am Wayzz."

The girl beside him with blonde hair that had black streaks spoke after him, "I am Pollen."

Beside her sat a dark skinned man with green eyes and black hair. "You can call me Plagg."

Next to him was a petit girl with red hair with black streaks, "I am known as Tikki."

A purple haired man spoke next, "I am Nooroo."

Lastly, a girl with orange hair introduced herself. "And my name is Trixx."

"We are known as the council, or as most people refer to us, the higher ups," Tikki said, her eyes roaming the room before finally landing on Marinette.

"Today's trial was called by Prince Adrien," Plagg said, sitting up straight and clasping his hands together. "Now that the introductions are out of the way..."

Their next words made Marinette's mouth go dry.

"Let the trial begin!"

Finally we found out who the higher ups are.

This will be interesting don't you think?
