Chapter Four

MADELEINE's POV

I hate mornings. We never mixed well together. The struggle to get out of bed, the sun burning my eyes, the intense hunger in my stomach, my non stopping sinus it's like all of them are pushing me to go back to bed. If you are one of those people who believe in 'New day, New way' then good luck buddy; I respect you. But I'm not like that.

Checking my watch quick to see I didn't wake up late since I didn't hear my alarm go off, I was glad to know that I was 30 minutes early. Good! I turned off the alarm. That gives me a bit more time to prepare.

Striding into the bathroom, I set a beeper for 10 minutes before taking my clothes off and jumping into the shower. The feeling of water coursing all over my body has always comforted me. I actually thought I was a mermaid till I was 13 years old. That's when reality kicked in.

I started humming 'Without me' by Halsey till it turned into a full blown shouting. I mean I was in a shower so why not?

Damn it! I just hate it when soap slides into my mouth. Like I'm being a popstar leave me alone you jealous bastard.

Time's up! Thanks God I was already done.

I strode out of the shower while grabbing a towel and drying my hair with it. My hair was a natural freeze. Most of the times I like it because I don't have to use conditioner every time and because it makes people jealous. By people I mean Danielle.

Walking to the closet I felt the cold air as I was basically naked. I opened it and chose my outfit for today. After the comment from Celina yesterday, I felt the need to dress more cool but still professional. After taking 5 minutes to chose something I thought was cool, I dressed up fast and walked hurriedly out of the apartment while grabbing my bag, my phone and an Apple on my way out. I don't think this Apple is going to last me the whole day. I didn't even have dinner.

I reached my office earlier than expected which made me sigh in relief. It's not everyday I get here early.

As soon as I reached my floor, and opened the elevator door, there awaited me my boss and a sorry looking Danielle.

Aaargh what did she do now?

"Ms. Madeleine please follow me to my office." said Mrs.White before leaving me with Danielle. I gave her a look which screamed explain! but she avoided looking at me so I just glared at her and followed my boss.

When I reached and got inside, she told me to take a sit and I did. But then her face turned serious, like the 'We have to talk' face, which made me begin to freak out.

"Ms. Madeleine care to tell me why you weren't at my office yesterday at lunch after I specifically told you to be here?"

Shitttttttt! I forgot about it.

"Sorry boss, I kinda blacked out and was in the nursing room and totally forgot about it."

"Oh really? Tell me did you fall off cloud nine?" Damn I can literally feel her sarcasm slapping me on the face.
