Chapter 18: Below the Surface

A few hours later...

Hammerhead: "So we've got only a fraction of time to get inside."

The heroes overlook a cliff and towards a battle for Demo trying to reach the elevator to the underwater Facility.

Julie: "That means we get the fun part."

Julie prepares her pistol.

Chase: "I wouldn't call it fun."

Lisa: "But if we get in, then this'll be a bit easier than the last two."

Julie: "I doubt it."

Lisa: "Why?"

Julie: "Do you think an AI like MONO would take a chance after failing twice?"

Hammerhead: "No way in hell."

Julie: "(smirking) That's why it's the fun part."

Chase examines the fight.

Chase: "If we're getting in, then we'll have to circumvent the fight and try to sneak our way in."

Lisa: "Then I guess that's our only option."

Julie holsters her pistol.

Julie: "If were going to do that, then we've got to do it now!"

Lisa starts hovering.

Lisa: "C-Come on!"

They start booking it toward the right side of the cliff and descending with each step.

However...

Emisall is flying inside of a large carrier airplane while strapped to an operating table.

Emisall: "Initiate the surgical procedures."

Robots begin slicing through his right arm.

A half hour later...

Julie is landing knockout shots at any Accelerators that take notice of the heroes when they're about to reach the lift going to the bottom.

Hammerhead: "Out of my way!"

Lisa takes to the sky and Chase swaps reality planes as Hammerhead bashes his way through the enemies, having all three arrive at the lift.

Lisa: "Julie!"

Julie is struggling to force her way through for a moment.

Julie: "Ah fuck this!"

Julie uses her super jump to send herself rocketing through the Accelerators and millimeters away from the lift's glass wall.

Julie: "Go!"

Chase activates the lift as more Accelerators make a mad dash towards them.

Chase: "(sweating) Come on..."

The door to the lift closes just in time.

Lisa: "(relieved) Thank god."

Chase: "(relieved) We barely made it."

They begin their descend.

Hammerhead: "Now we've got another four mazes ahead."

They're soon able to see the world beneath the sea...
