CASE #1 (A)

26 5 20

Hello there! I'd like to let you know that from now on, I'll post the cases and the whole process of how EDITH and the team solved them.

All the cases would be catenated, so read all of them before the conclusive chapter (which is obviously yet to come XD)

Also, the pieces of writing in "quotation marks" and italics are Edith thinking to herself.

(Edith Ryder)

"Mr. Stanford, the Minister of Education of Indianapolis has been murdered today at 2:00 A.M. in his high security home. The FBI and the Police have started the investigation, as claimed by the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Resources suggest that Mr. Stanford was alone in his house at the time of murder and that the security guard committed suicide after the incident. There is no solid evidence or suspect up till now.

If you want to stay tuned, visit our website given below. Until then, that's it for BBC NEWS."

I was startled as I heard the News. My feet froze to the ground and spoon fell from my hand with which I was eating my cereal.

How shocking! The man was just. He even had courage to expose various politicians and officers of their corruption.

"Maybe that's why he has been killed....But it's way too early to jump to conclusions."

*Beep beep*

A text appeared on my phone. It read:

"Let's do the right thing!
Sincerely,
Your New Friends"

"Interesting, let's do it!"

At the crime scene

"Let us through," Isla spoke to a senior FBI agent, "they are with me."

"Are you Mr. Wren's daughter?"

"Yes, I am." She replied.

"Okay, go ahead."

"Whoa! There actually is a little benefit of collaborating with them," I thought.

"Okay, so I am gonna leave for my lab, I have to examine Mr. Stanford's body. Whenever you need anything, just ring me," Isla said leaving for her lab.

"Let's go in," Zayden demanded.

The tensed environment around us seemed to have made us more determined in finding out the truth. The tears, the noise, T.V. reporters, dim lights, all froze for a while as I unintentionally glanced at late Minister's wife and daughters. It might be heartbreaking for the country but the pain of the family always remains immensely immeasurable.

I came back instantly from my thoughts into the real world due to a voice which said,
"Do you wanna get to work? We only have two hours."

"Sure"

'*******'

I entered the main gate in front of which there was a gigantic lawn. Everything looked perfectly fine, except for the unbelievable fact that a man had been murdered in this very place.

"Whoever planned and executed the murder is indeed a very clever person."

Passing the lawn, we slammed the door of the house open. Everything was in place, the television, vases, lamps, everything.

I forwarded towards Mr. Stanford's bedroom, where he had been murdered.

It was upstairs, and the staircase was wooden. This made it creak underneath my feet.

"Whoever came in last night, didn't come by stairs, that's for sure. They make a lot of noise and Mr. Stanford, being an insomniac couldn't have not woken up by the sound. How else could've anyone entered?"

On reaching his room, the first thing I saw was the opened window!

"That's it! The murderer came in through the window!" I shouted for the people on the ground floor to listen, "Basically, murderer is a skilled killer guided by someone clever, well educated ... and someone who knew Mr. Stanford perfectly."

The murderer is a friend.
