After four classes today, I was ready for the calming atmosphere of lunch. At least, I thought it was calming. There was a constant buzz in the room, and it made my ears ache in pain. Even though my elf ears aren't out right now, my hearing is still enhanced. I could see a few of the dragons wearing expressions of agony as well, but otherwise nobody could do anything about it.

As I made my way delicately through the crowds of people to the lunch line, I glanced around and tried to make a map in my head where each general group was. Humans in the right far corner, popular female beings in the center, jock male beings right next to the popular girls.. ugh! I can only remember so much. I think trying to map out the self-elected seating chart of the cafeteria was nearly impossible. There were groups that bled into others in some parts, and even mixed groups that occasionally separated.

I decided to focus on food for now, and maybe find a group for me to possibly join later. I did look for Lukav, though, and I saw him in what looked like the 'smart but not nerdy' group. I looked back at the line, and I saw that the line wasn't getting shorter very quickly. I glanced back in Lukav's direction, and saw him looking back. I can't be surprised that he saw me so soon, since I may be the only redhead in the school. His horns were almost gleaming in the bright lights of the cafeteria, like rough clouds being bathed in sunlight. He waved at me, and I felt this weird feeling in my chest that felt like someone had started a fire in there, and the warmth was spreading throughout my body. I smiled and waved back, and I saw him blush nervously and look back at his friends. Ah, so he's nervous about knowing a 'selfish, disgusting, rude human', Well, I can't blame him.

When he looked back I tried to send an understanding glance and I looked away. The line was much shorter now, only one person in front of me. I apologized for holding up the line, and caught up with the jahsly in front of me.

As soon as the jahsly was finished, I ordered my lunch. I felt kind of awkward as I waited for it to be given to me, because I knew there were people behind me who wanted their lunch too. I just thought about school and homework while I was waiting, and when it finally came I was excited and nervous about how the food would taste. I wondered where I should sit, and eventually I decided to just go find a seat amongst the crowd, but it proved harder than it sounded. I was weaving through all kinds of beings, and there were all kinds of colors flashing by my eyes. Everything was moving so quickly, and the sound was making my head pound. I felt my eyes start to feel almost sore, and I felt dizziness start to creep up the back of my skull. Then, the welcoming blackness folded its forgiving arms around my eyes, and all faded to black.

I woke up with the sweet scent of lavender filling my nostrils, and i tilted my head to the right to see a nurse looking at me wearing a worried expression. I mumbled something like "What's going on?" but my hearing seemed to only be partially working. When I regained full consciousness, I sat up and asked the nurse what happened. "You just were mildly dehydrated, dear." Oh, that makes sense. When was the last time I drank something? 2 days ago?

"Oh, ok. Can I have a cup of water then?" I ask as politely as possible. "Of course!" She replies with a cheerful smile. While I drink some water, I check the clock to see that it's only 12:25. I still have bout half of lunch to eat. Before I go, I ask "How did I get here?" The nurse turns away from her computer and says, "Oh a nice demon boy brought you!" I was taken aback. 'Nice' and 'demon boy' don't exactly go together.

"Huh. Thanks, Mrs...?" She smiles a kind smile. "Mrs. Conice. Have a nice day, Mariana!" I feel a slight twinge of suspicion, but I smile back at her like any normal being. I didn't tell you my name. Hmm... oh well, she probably just saw it in her computer.
