Aiden's P.O.V

''Aiden! Right here!'', one of my teammates shouts with his hands in the air. I threw it quickly, he caught it and ran. This is basically my life.. football. It's the sport I've been playing almost my whole life. Right now, I hated it. Practice was long and hard. We ran suicides until we threw up, lifted weights every morning before school, and practiced plays after school for 4 to 5 hours. It was hard work, but it was well worth it. Our team was pretty good, considering we've won all of our games so far. I just can't help wishing we could have a break sometimes, so that I could see Haley. I haven't stopped thinking about her ever since I took her home this morning.

''Aiden! Watch out!'', one guy says. It was too late to react. I get tackled hard and tumble to the ground. I groaned and slowly got back to my feet. Stop thinking about her, you're going to get yourself hurt, I think and get back into position. The rest of practice went by smoothly, thank God. Just as I was about to leave, my coach stopped me. ''Hey coach'', I say. ''What was wrong with you today? It was like your head was somewhere else'', he barked. ''It.. kinda was.'' ''Well let me tell you right now, you keep playing like that, and I'll find another quarterback.'' ''I understand'', I nodded. ''Good. See you tomorrow morning,'' he says and walks off. I sighed, got in my truck, and went home.

As I drove, I got a text from Haley. She asked if I wanted to come over for dinner, and I replied with ''Sure''. She was a pretty good cook after all, and I'm pretty sure almost every guy likes a girl who can cook. After another few minutes, I pulled into her driveway and went inside. ''Hey Aiden'', Em says, hugging me. ''Hey, where's your sister?'', I ask. ''In the kitchen'', she said. I thanked her and walked towards the amazing smell of spaghetti.

''Oh, hey'', Haley says, flashing me a smile. ''Hey'', I say, ''Need any help?'' ''Yeah. Can you stir the spaghetti?'' ''Yeah'', I say and I stir it up. ''So.. How was football?'', she asks. ''It was alright.. I'm exhausted though'', I admitted. ''You look like it.. Do you have practice the rest of the week?'' ''Yeah..'' ''Oh.. That's too bad.. I was hoping we would be able to hang out'', she says, looking over at me. ''Well, maybe I can get out of it for one day..'', I say. ''I don't want to get you in trouble.. So if you can't, I understand. I don't want you to get kicked off the team just for me.'' And just like that, I was determined to skip a day of practice. I loved how considerate she was about me and football. God, Aiden! Snap out of it. I ordered myself, but it was no use. I wanted to be with her.. alone. So, after dinner, I would find someway to get her away from everything, even if that included Em.

''Night Aiden'', Em says, hugging me. ''Night'', I say. As she ran off to her room, I started thinking of what to say to Haley, now that Em was gone. Thankfully, she was the one who started conversation. ''So.. where are we going tonight?'', she asks curiously. ''I hadn't really planned anything'', I replied. She smiled, ''Does that mean I can pick where we go?'' I laughed, ''I guess. I didn't know we were going anywhere.'' ''Well, we are, so get your stuff and let's go.''

Haley's P.O.V

As I drove, I realized I didn't know where I was going. I was just sitting there, letting the road take me wherever it wanted me to go. With Aiden sitting at my right, it was so hard to concentrate and think about anything. I just don't get why this keeps happening. Why everytime I'm around him, all I can think about is kissing him, or him holding me in his arms. I just don't know why I want to be with him so badly. I shake the thoughts out of my head and randomly pull into a parking lot.

''So.. why are we here?'', Aiden says, getting out of the car. ''I don't really know.. To talk I guess'', I reply awkwardly. Stop acting like an idiot! I demanded myself. ''Okay.. What do you wanna talk about?'' ''I think you and I both know..'', I say, making sure to not look at him. ''About last night, right?'', he says. I nodded.. ''So what about it?'' ''Why.. why did it happen?'', I ask, realizing how fast my reply was. He looked at me, ''I.. I don't know. You tell me.'' There were no words. Truth was, I don't know why it happened. It felt right at the time, and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. ''I.. well'', I stuttered. Finally, I could put words into my mouth, ''I turned my imagination into reality.'' The way I said it came off a little more confident than I had intended, but I think it helped the words play out a little better. ''Me too'', he says, holding my gaze, ''And I haven't stopped thinking about it since then.''

Just like that, we were both silent. What could I say? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Or atleast I can't think of anything. So, we went back to my place, and he went home. There was nothing else to do except go to bed and think all of this through later. As I got into bed though, it was all I could do to try and not think about it. Every time I'd almost be asleep, there the thoughts were again, continuously waking me back up. The whole conversation ran through my mind again and again. Did what he said mean he thought of me the way I think of him? Wait, no. Haley, stop thinking like this. You're just blinded by temptaion, that's all. After all, Aiden's been your best friend since forever! You can't be in love with him, you just can't be.... Or maybe I can be.. Maybe I can follow my heart for once and forget about the consequences of life. Forget the worrying! What is there to lose anyways? Sure, he might think I'm absolutely crazy, but atleast he'll know how I feel about him. Now that I had found some clarity, I was finally able to close my eyes and fall asleep.

That next morning was horrible. I woke up late with my hair everywhere, I couldn't find the right outfit, and I just knew I was going to be late for school. Finally, I just threw my hair into a bun, put on some jeans and a t-shirt, and drove to school. ''Bye Em.'', I say as she gets out of the car. ''Bye!'', she yells and runs to class. 10 more minutes until I get to school.. I can make it. I pressed my foot on the gas pedal a little harder and drove. Thankfully, cops weren't around or I would've definitely got stopped. When I got to school, I quickly parked and rushed to my locker. Then, I dropped my books and they slide all down the hall.

''Are you kidding me!?'', I mumbled through gritted teeth. I hurried to my books, shoved them into my locker, and ran off to class. Right when I got through the door, the late bell rang. Thank God I wasn't late. As I walked over to my desk, I couldn't help looking over at Aiden. He was talking to some of his friends, but instantly noticed me and flashed me a smile. I smiled back and sat down. Then, Jamie, from her front row seat, ran back to me.

''Hey! Guess what!'', she squealed. ''What?'' ''Levi asked me on a date!'', she replied happily. ''That's great! When? Where? I want to know all the details'', I laughed. ''We're going to that fancy new restaurant downtown tomorrow night'', she says. ''Really? I didn't know they were open yet..'' ''Me either, but apparently so. Oh, I'm just so excited! The thing is.. I don't have anything super fancy to wear, so will you go shop with me after school?'' ''Sure, but Em has to go with us'', I say. ''Okay, no problem. She's like the little sister I've never had! Plus, she has good taste!'', she laughs. ''Haha, yeah I guess.'' We continued talking for a few more minutes, then she went back to her desk to do her work.
