This is going to be a short rant about my thoughts on calling Nat's death a "fridging". As we all know the soul of the Avengers team, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow sacrificed herself to obtain the soul stone. Now I understand why so many people are unhappy about her death as am I because this character never truly gets the things that she deserves, as a happy ending with Bruce or having an actual funeral for her, but some people are seeing her death as a fridging. now for those who aren't familiar with the term, fridging is when a female character is killed off solely to motivate a male character. The term comes from an issue of the comic "Green Lantern" when Green Lantern comes home to finding his girlfriend dead she was literally cut up and stuffed into the fridge, after that the character was motivated the continue to be a superhero. Now yes I do see how Nat's sacrifice can be mistaken for fridging but I want to make it clear that that is not the case. Our beloved first female Avengers death was, in fact, heartbreaking but also necessary, someone had to die for the soul stone no matter what so it was only fitting that it was Nat. Nat was the heart and soul of the team and she's been working for years to try "wipe the red out of her ledger" after all the things she had done before she became an Avenger. Nat was the only one who didn't give up on finding any way to bring everyone back after the snap so the fact that she sacrificed herself to bring them back was only fitting. While yes Clint was with her when she died her death wasn't only to get him to keep going and finish what they started I feel like that no matter what happened Clint would finish what they started because of his family, Clint's family was his fridge, Nat only strengthened it. Her death was to show her character development on how much she's changed.
