Hey, disclaimer.  I wasn't the one to come up with the title, it was Gwen. Forgot to credit, but she deserves the credit.

"Uh, Pete? Do you know how to take care of injuries?" Stan asked, looking at the kid. He was out cold, his raccoon pawing at his unconscious face. The kid looked in pain, making groaning noises every once in a while.

"Uh, yeah. Don't you? We had to know that in order to become guards," Stan let out a small, nervous chuckle. Pete shook his head, looking up. They've gone a far way under ground, no way they could climb back up. Looking around the cave, Pete saw there was only one way to go. It was hard to even see that though, it had been so dark out. They'd have to travel in morning, if they could.

Stan watched Pete make his way towards the kid. He watched him check his leg, check his head, mumbling to himself every couples seconds. Seemed to know what he was doing. I'll have to ask Pete to teach me all this again, Stan thought, a small smile plastered on his face. Probably should've paid more attention.

Arghh... Varian thought, opening his eyes. But what he saw was defidently not what he had expected. "What the-" A cave?! Varian quickly sat up, but he felt a sudden wave of dizziness. He felt a hand on his shoulder lightly push him down.

"In your condition, it'd be better to stay lying down." Varian knew that voice. Pete? Varian looked over. Yep, it was Pete.

"Why- why are we in a cave?"

"Because of your failed attempt at escape, we fell into a cave!!" Stan yelled, obviously mad. Varian looked over to Pete, who also had on a frustrated look on his face. He wouldn't say anything though, that wouldn't be like him. But both were upset at the predicament. Rightfully so, Varian knew that. Didn't want to admit it though.

"Well if you hadn't chased me, we wouldnt be here!!" Varian yelled back.

"We were just doing our jobs!" Pete joined the argument.

"Well you think I just wanted to say there!?"

"Do you think we even wanted you there!?"

"Do you think I wanted to be there in the first place?!"

"Then you shouldn't have broken the law!"

"Then someone should've helped me when I needed it!"

     "You could've asked politely!"

     "I. Don't. Care!"

They sat in silence, giving each other death stares. They sat like that for a while, twenty minutes, maybe. Stan eventually broke the silent stare down with a sigh, lied down, and fell asleep. Varian looked over at Pete, who looked tired too. Varian groaned, grabbed Ruddiger (who was scared and had hidden this whole time, due to the arguing) and layed down, Pete following soon after.

-

Varian woke up to the sweet smell of cooked meat. For a second, he thought he was dreaming. But reality hit when he felt the cold, damp, rocky floor below him. Wait... Where is the smell coming from? He shot his eyes open, and saw Pete and Stan talking away, some meat sitting in the warn sun's rays. Wait a minute..

"That's my meat!!" He spat out. As he planned his escape, he didn't eat very much... Because he was saving it for after his escape! And they went and started to eat it!

"We saved you some," Stan said innocently, mouth full. Pete nodded in agreement, though he didn't seem as oblivious.

"I starved myself for days to save that meat! It's mine!"

"Well, that's not our fault," said Pete, not smugly, but still annoyed Varian. He shot Pete a glare.

"Well, it wasn't planned that you two would come with me!"

"Can you please calm down and let me explain?" Stan said, a little annoyed. "We savored some for other days. We also saved you the warmest piece. I mean, you are a growing child. You gotta have good food." Sure, Varian didn't like being called a child, but he couldn't disagree with all that he said. He knew he was still growing. He's a smart kid. So, reluctantly, he scooched over and grabbed a piece for himself and Ruddiger.

While the kid chewed, Stan and Pete continued their little chats. Nothing important really, just trying to pass time. Varian would glance over every once in a while, maybe interested in the conversation. Sometimes they though he'd chip in. But, he kept eating. The two friends hadn't cared. They just continued.

"I just feel like they need to guard that spot more often," Pete said.

"Yeah, through the cell window I couldn't see much guards," Varian, unexpectedly said. The two guards stared at him, kinda surprised. Ruddiger looked up, his heart fluttering. But Varian kept a nonchalant look on, and kept chewing. He was bored, and wanted a little conversation. I mean, if he'll be stuck with them for a while, he may as well try to enjoy it.

"Yeah," Stan said, nodding. "And have you noticed every guard they do put there seems, uh, 'off-guard'," he finished with a chuckle.

"Mmhm. They never really seem to know what their doing," Varian replied.

They kept at it for a while, talking back and forth, about whatever came to mind. They took turns cracking jokes, laughing, and talking some more. All silently agreed it was kind of fun. Even Varian.
