The New Guy (Laurance x Reader)

Chapter 2: Warming Up

F/F: Favorite Fast Food

It is finally the weekend. Ive been waiting for this since the beginning of the week. Jamie won't be home today and neither will mom. They both have to work late so I can do whatever I want, so of course I text my friends.

N/N: hey guys
Aph: hey Y/N!
Katie: what's up?
N:N: nothing just wanted to see if anyone wanted to hang out
Gar: can't sorry :(
Katie: I can't either :/
Travy: I can
Aph: oh I can too what time?
N/N: any time today is fine with me
Travy: k I can come over now
Aph: I can too but I have to be home by lunch
N/N: ok c ya soon

I turn off my phone and walk outside to wait. After a few minutes, I see Laurance walk outside with a girl with fiery red hair and is tall like him.

He notices me and waves so I wave back. He takes that as a sign to come speak with me, the girl following behind him. "Hey Y/N," he says once he reaches the porch. "What's up?"

"Just waiting for my friends to get here." I answer. "What about you?"

"My sister and I are gonna hang out at the park. This is Cadenza by the way." Laurance introduces the two of us.

They leave soon after and a couple minutes later, Travis and Aphmau are walking up my front steps. "Hey guys."

"Hello." "Hi."

"What do you guys want to do?" I ask. "Can we go to the park?" Aphmau suggests. "Aaron is gonna be there." Aaron is her boyfriend who is in college. "That'll be fun." Travis says.

We start walking to the park as Aph texts Aaron about us going to the park. I text mom and Jamie in our family group chat about where I'm going.

N/N: I'm going to the park w/ Travis + Aph to hang w/ Aaron
Mom: ok I'll be home for lunch around 1
N/N: k love u
Mom: Love u 2
Jamie: k I'll try to get off for a lil bit  I'll text you if I can't
Mom: ok that's fine

When I look up from my phone, we're almost to the park and I see someone walking up to me. At first, I don't realize who it is until they get closer. It's Laurance.

He gets to us right before we can walk into the park. "Hey Laurance." Travis greets him. "Hey. It's Travis, right?" Laurance asks. "Yeah it is."

We walk over to the lake where Aph told Aaron to meet us. When we get there, Aaron is sitting on a bench near the lake. "Hey Aaron!" Aph says as soon as we get to the bench. Laurance came with us because Aphmau insisted that he meet Aaron. "Hey Aph, Travis, Y/N. Who's this?" Aaron asks, pointing to Laurance. "This is Laurance," I tell him. "He just moved here. Laurance this is Aaron. Aaron this is Laurance."

They both shake hands and we all hang out until lunch.

We all say goodbye and head home for lunch. Laurance and I walk together since we live next door to each other.

"So, that guy is Aphmau's boyfriend?" He asks as walk back to our houses. "Yeah. He went to Phoenix Drop High before he went to college." I inform him. "Aaron and Aph have been friends even before that."

"You got some college boyfriend too?" Laurance asks, nudging my arm with his elbow. "No." I say with a hint of blush on my cheeks. "The only college boys I know are Jamie's friends and Aaron."

"Jamie is in college?"

"No but he is old enough to be." I say back. "Oh. Cadenza is in some fashion school." He shrugs his shoulders. "She wants to be a fashion designer."

"That's really cool. Maybe she can show me some of her designs one day." I tell him. "I bet that she would love to show them to someone other than my parents, her teachers and I." He tells me.

"Jamie didn't really want to go to college." I continue. "He wants to run a soup kitchen for the homeless." We keep talking about our siblings until we get to our houses.

"See you later." Laurance says as we part ways. "Bye."

I walk inside and see Jamie sitting at the table on his phone. "Hey." I say as I walk toward the table. "Hey." He responds without even looking up from his phone. "When did you get home?" I sit down in the chair next to him as I speak. "A couple minutes ago." He tells me, finally looking up from his phone. "Were you just hanging out with Laurance?"

"Yeah. He was at the park so he hung out with Aph, Travis, and I." I tell him. "Since we live next to each other, we walked home together." All he says is, "Ok, sure." Playfully, I punch him in the arm.

Mom walks inside a couple minutes after I got home with takeout from F/F; Jamie and I's favorite fast food place.

We start eating as Jamie and mom start talking about who knows what; I don't really listen because I'm too lost in my own thoughts. Mostly random things fill my mind like school, friends and other things like that.

I'm taken back from my thoughts when Jamie waves his hand in front of my face. "What?" I ask. "You okay?" He asks back, sounding a little concerned. "Yeah just thinking." I look back down at my food and begin to eat again. While I was lost in thought, I had stopped eating and didn't realize it. That's probably what made Jamie so concerned.

We finish eating so both Mom and Jamie head back to work, leaving me alone once again.

I've had this part finished for a while I just never typed it on my phone til now. I hoped you enjoyed this part.
