Chapter 10: The Little Things

"How was prom sweetie?" My mom asks me as I walk through the door. "It was good. Why are you up?" I ask very confused since its almost four in the morning.

"Well I'm glad you had fun. Go get some sleep."

As I am walking to my room, I get a text from Aphmau. "Have you talked to Laurance yet?"

I texted her back explaining that I am going to talk to him once we have both slept.

~Earlier That Morning~

"I can't believe you agreed with him!" Laurance says angrily. "What was I supposed to do? He wasn't wrong!" I say back, only making him madder. "Who cares if he was right. You're supposed to be on my side."

"I care!" I tell him. "Sorry if you think that's terrible of me." I walk away from Laurance, leaving him on the sidewalk. Sometimes he drives me crazy.

I wake up around ten to several text messages and missed calls. Why are people calling me?

I look at my phone to see it was Aphmau. Nothing from Laurance. Guess I'll have to be the bigger person.

Aph: Did you tell your mom what happened????
Aph: Y/N???
Aph: Hello!!!!!
Aph: Y/N ANSWER ME
Y/N: I just woke up what?
Aph: Did you tell your mom???
Y/N: No I told her it was fun
Aph: WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL HER!!!!
Y/N; It was 4am I didn't feel like it
Aph: oh yeah.....
Aph: Have you talked to HIM??
Y/N: No Aph I just woke up
Aph: TEXT HIM!
Y/N: FINE
Y/N: I will
Aph: Good luck!

I'm not texting him right now, I want food. I walk to the kitchen and find my mom making eggs. "Hey mom."

"Good morning, Y/N." She says. "How did you sleep?"

"Fine until Aph kept texting me." I roll my eyes as I speak.

"What was she needing?"

"Oh. I'll tell you later." I tell her. "I'm gonna go over and see Laurance after breakfast, that okay?" She nods and I change my clothes quick before breakfast.

I sit down at the table and text Laurance.

Y/N: We need to talk
Y/N: I'm coming over after breakfast

I know he read it even though he doesn't answer. At some point, Jamie sat down by me at the table. I only realize this when he asks, "What do you need to talk about? Something happen last night?" He raises his eyebrows at me and I shake my head. "Not whatever your thinking."

He laughs and mom brings us both a plate of eggs and toast. "Thanks mom." I say as I start eating. "You have to tell me later." Jamie whispers to me as mom sits down across from us. "Maybe I will." I whisper back and we keep eating without talking about it again.

"I'm heading out." I yell as I open the front door. "Ok, see you later, Sweetie." My mom yells back.

Walking over to Laurance's feels wrong, like I shouldn't be doing it. I need to fix this though. When I get to his door, I knock. I had no intent on knocking, I never do, but for some reason I did. After almost a minute, I'm shaking as I wait at the door. What's taking him forever? I decide to text him again.

Y/N: I'm here can you open the door?

Nothing.

After a few seconds I realize he's not going to answer my text so I call him instead.

Laurance picks up after a few rings. "Hello?"

It sounds like he was sleeping and didn't realize who it was. "Hey come open your front door." I say, a little annoyed. "I've been texting you."

"Y/N?"

"Yes?"

"The door should be unlocked." He laughs a little. "But I guess I can open it for you."

He hangs up and a few moments later the door is opening. "What's up?"

"You know why I'm here." I say coldly. It still upsets me that he had the audacity to agrue with me over something so stupid.

"Okay." He starts. "Straight to the point I see."

When I don't answer he continues talking. "Look, I didn't mean to upset you but you have to understand where I was coming from." Laurance gives me a pleading look and I nod my head for him to continue.
