I have been preparing for weeks for this. Caroline has been working with me for Miss Mystic Falls, and thinks that I have a good shot. The interview processes wasnt so hard, except for the judges asking me about my mother. Which of course I had no answers to their questions.
Today we would be practicing the dance portion of the competition. Since I didnt know anyone in town I didnt have an escort until yesterday. Stefan volunteered himself telling me that he was supposed to be my moms escort so it would only be fair if he was mine. I was totally fine with that.
When we made it to rehearsal everyone just kept staring.
"I knew this was a bad idea." Was all I could say with a worried look on my face.
Stefan looked at me and said "everything will be fine".
Once rehearsal ended we left and stopped at the mystic grill. Once we arrived we got a booth and began to talk, about many things but one thing was bothering me.
"Stefan can I all you a question?" I asked.
He looked at me with a smile and replied "of course".
"Who do you think my father is? I am only asking because all of the other girls have been talking about how their fathers have been helping them with the dance and as you know I dont have one." I said as fast as I could.
He looked at me with a sad yet confused face and said "I dont know who your father is but I hoping I could be enough, and maybe be somewhat a father figure to you."
"I already consider you as a father." I said as tears fell from both of our faces.
After we finished eating we went back to the house.
The next day
Today was the pageant, and I felt like I was on a cloud. I walked down stairs to find Caroline on the phone and telling me to eat before breakfast gets cold. I ate super fast and went to grab my things so we could head to the Lockwood mansion.
When we arrived everyone was staring at me. I wasn't bothered by everyone except for Christina. She wasn't to happy about me still doing the pageant.
I waited for the announcer to call my name so I could walk down the stairs to meet Stefan. When they called my name I took a deep breath and walk down the long spiraling staircase. Stefan was looking up at me and smiling from ear to ear.
We did the dance just like we had practiced. When the dance was over it was time to announce the winner. The speaker grabbed the microphone and said "Ladies and Gentlemen of I could have your attention, I would like to announce our new Miss Mistic Falls. . . Lexi Glibert."
Everyone clapped in excitement except for Chistina. She was furious, and so angry she stormed off of the stage and left the pageant. I was happy that I won but sad as well because my mother wasnt here to see it.
When the pageant ended we went to the grill to celebrate. Everyone was laughing and having a great time until a stranger walked to the table. He handed me an envelope and then left without a word. Everyone watched as I opened it.
