Angel stretched her legs out to get ready for her morning jog. She had the coffee brewing as her husband pulled the toast out of the toaster. James worked as a welder for a big manufacture company. She knew it would be a matter of time before she would have to start planning the summer for her kids. Her toddler laid in bed sucking on his bottle, as he lay half asleep. Angel looked at the miracle baby he was. Not long ago, she had her tubes reversed after having them tied. It took a while to get pregnant with some complications. But there he was Dylan her miracle baby. Her husband walked in as he buttoned his shirt. "You wanna wake him up? So, he'll want to take his nap?" Angel sat on the bed smiling. "Nah, he's fine the way he is." James smiled. "Okay, I'll leave him be." Angel stood up to take James half empty cup of coffee. He had been her childhood sweetheart. They separated for a time and found their way back together. He was her rock. She remembered what a bully he was in school to other kids. To hide his own insecurities and hurt inside. She knew that, that is why she was drawn to him. Angel too had suffered from insecurities and pains in her life. She admired how far James had come since she had known him. He found Jesus and gave up drinking. To Angel, life couldn't be better. To see him hung over upset her and she hated to see her children suffer from what she had to grow up with. Drinking, and her mom's various boyfriends. She didn't want her children to have the same fate as her. As any mother she wanted better. James leaned over to give her a kiss. He tapped her back. Angel jilted. "Oh." "What's the matter." "Oh nothing, I'll be alright. You go on or you'll be late." James studied her closer. "Babe, you sure?" "Yes, James..I'm fine..go." James grabbed his hat, keys then walked out the door. Angel touched her back again. She might need to go back to the chiropractor to get it checked. It was nothing. She went over to baby Dylan and rubbed his back softly. "Come on sweet boy, time to wake up." Dylan squinted and looked around before deciding to let her pick him up from his bed. Her back hurt a little when she picked Dylan up. "Mama, needs to get her back checked out..yes..she does..that way we can go piggyback ride when we go jogging..yes we can." Dylan offered her a smile and giggle. She picked him up and placed him in his high chair to feed him his breakfast. Bananas with oatmeal. You could say this was the life that Angel had dreamed of.
