classrooms
they felt so empty without him

to make jokes
to answer questions

maybe I was the only one who felt that way
but it was so painful to be there

to pretend my heart wasn't going to fail any moment
to pretend I wasn't about to clutch my stomach in absolute agony

to perfect subjects I had no passion in
to learn with no one beside me

comforting me
encouraging me
praising me

and there was no one
for me to do the same to

I would look out the window sometimes
would see a younger class having a pe lesson

I recognised familiar brown hair
I recognised familiar bunny teeth

and my eyes followed that boy
because he was the only one here who could ever know my pain.
