When everyone got off their transports, they stared at the dark space before them. Next to Mr. Weylend was Lex. She had a flare gun in her hand. Giving the darkness before her a blank look, she cocked the flare gun and pointed it towards the sky. When Lex fired it, majority of the people there stiffened.
"It's like a ghost town." A man who was part of the engineer squad said as he stared at the abandoned area with wide eyes. Everyone who had heard him nodded their heads in agreement. Well, everyone except little Luna. She stared at the place in content. In her mind it reminded her of ... 'home'. Having to take a look at Lex, Luna could tell that Lex was feeling the same thing. A wave of homesickness hit Luna which caused her to look away from the place. 'It's best not think of them.' Making a move to go down she shook her head. 'Especially when things still feel... so fresh.' An image of her mother and grandmother crossed through her mind. Luna felt her heart clenched as she pushed them to the back of her mind. As she was making her way down, Maxwell came up to the side of her and gave her a smile. That action alone made Luna stiffen but she forced herself to relax. Nodding her head towards him, she continued down the path trying to catch up with the others. Maxwell couldn't help but chuckle as he saw her trying to discreetly get away from him.
"You must be excited by how fast you're walking Ms. Blight." Luna stiffened as he addressed her. She couldn't help but narrow her eyes, but let them relax as she turned to face him.
Giving him a blank face, Luna addressed him. "Mr. Stafford."
Slowing down a bit to wait for him to catch up, she continued. "I guess you could say I am. I'm excited to see what this... adventure... of ours would bring us. However, I am in a hurry to find a place that is still salvageable." Luna looked at Maxwell and saw him smirk.
When Luna saw that she couldn't but shudder a bit from his stare in distaste. 'Definitely in a hurry to get away from you.' If Luna was being honest with herself, she would admit that she felt uncomfortable and weary around the man. However, she would never say it out loud. She did not know why but her senses were telling her to run far from him. Maybe even sock him in the face, but she couldn't. The smirk on Stafford's face was widening and it was starting to irritate her. Politeness be damn! Luna was sure having a hard time from socking people's face in, well Stafford's in this case.
"If anything, I can help you in your search to find... 'a salvageable' place for us to stay in." The way he said it sounded suggestive and little Luna did not like that. If anything, she started to panic. But thankfully, she quickly composed herself before Maxwell saw it
"As nice as that sounds, I'm sure I can handle myself. You really don't have to do anything of the sorts." Even though Luna composed herself well, Maxwell can see right through her. This had caused his smirk to widen even more. Just as she was about to walk away, he spoke again.
"I don't mind at all. We are after all supposed to stay in at least a group of two." He paused and gave Luna a cool look. Luna couldn't help but curse in her head. 'Fuck.'
