Everyone knows
About the beasts within.
Some are wolves or lions.
Even dragons.
They say one is good and the other, bad.
And the one you feed gains strength.
They say that is what makes you who you are.
But things aren't so black and white.
And so
I refuse to make my two halves fight for dominance
For they aren't enemies
They're pack mates.
Twins who are stronger when they hunt together.
Smarter when they deal with things together.
Safer when they protect each other.
Happier when they stand beside the other, not against them.
So I will feed and care for them equally,
Because you cannot say you're doing right
If you take necessities from one
To give another something extra.
