(Hey everyone! Author here. So I know i haven't updated this in... a year. But I've had a falling out with writing in general. I'm getting back into it now so I'll try to update when I can! Enjoy))

Keith's first words were sudden and unexpected. Keith was a pretty quiet baby for the most part unless he was really uncomfortable or fussy, or he would make happy squeaks and squeals when he was excited or happy. However, he had never tried to speak. Shiro was okay with it, however. Keith would talk when he was ready. He just didn't know how long it would take.

Keith was almost  a half a year old now and he was still figuring things out, reaching and grabbing at things and he was still crawling around on the floor slowly. He was trying to crawl around again while shiros parents were there and he fell on his face, starting to sob instantly. Shiro heard the thump and ran over, scooping Keith up into his arms.
"Aw, it's okay, little cub. Shhhh, shhhhh. I know, I know. That was scary wasn't it? But it's okay now. Daddy's got you." He bounced him and soothed him. Keith's wails started to die down, the infant sniffling and snuggling into his father's chest. Shiro chuckled softly and rubbed his bottom.
"Takashi, I'm still awestruck with how skilled you are with him." Kolivan chuckled. Shiro turned and smiled.
"I learned from the best." That got a chuckle out of both of his parents.
"You're such an ass kisser. Always have been." His father laughed. Keith huffed and smacked his lips.
"Ah!" He huffed. Shiro smiled.
"Alright, I'll get you a bottle." He chuckled. He had gotten better at reading Keith over the months. He knew when he needed changing, when he was hungry, when he was gassy, and when he just wanted attention. Shiro got the bottle ready and tested it on his hand before taking Keith back to the kitchen and sitting down, feeding his six month old son. Kolivan smiled softly.
"I still can't believe how good you are with him, Takashi." Mira smiled genuinely.
Shiro smiled and gently held Keith, holding the bottle properly. "Thanks mom."
Keith whined softly as he nursed. Shiro gently rocked him as he fed him, cooing at his baby boy. "It's okay, little lion. I've got you." He took the bottle away once Keith finished and buried him. He chuckled with his parents. "There you go. See? Daddy's got you." He smiled and held Keith to where Keith could see Shiro's face. Keith cooed adorably and Pat Shiro's face. "Daddy!" He giggled and pat Shiros face. A silence fell over the room as the three grown ups tried to register what just happened. Shiros eyes filled with tears of joy as he beamed and held his son. "Yes! Yes, daddy! I'm daddy! Oh im so proud of you baby boy!" Keith was startled by the sudden eruption of sound as he started to wail. Shiro beamed and kissed his little boys head gently. "Shhh, it's okay! It's okay Keithy, Daddy's here! Oh I'm so proud of you!" He held Keith close and beamed brightly. His parents were grinning at him from ear to ear. They hadn't seen Shiro this happy in years. People always told them that shiro had rescued keith from the adoption center as a joke, but in all seriousness, Keith was the one who had saved shiro.
