One late afternoon at Wong's residences.
"Mamey? How did you know na si Mama na yung gusto mo?" Tanong ni Jaycel.
"There is this unexplainable feeling na sobrang happy ka. That the person inspires you and makes you want to sacrifice anything for that person." Sagot ni Deanna sa anak.
"Mahal mo talaga si Mama noh?" tanong ni Jaycel.
"Sobra! And I will do everything for her, for us, and for our family." Deanna said.
"Mahanap ko din kaya yung one true love ko?" Jaycel asked.
"Well, you don't need to hurry baby Jace! It will come at the right time. You'll find your falcon." Deanna said while she taps her daugther's shoulder.
"I hope so Mamey. Guide me ahhh..." Jaycel said.
"Always!" sabi ni Deanna at yinakap ang anak.
"Mamey, alis na ako..." Jaycel bid her mom goodbye.
"Okay. Late na din. Para makapagpahinga ka..." Deanna responded.
"Thanks Mamey! Love you!" sabi ni Jaycel tapos halikan si Deanna.
"Jace, dalin mo na payong mo. Baka umulan at pagalitan pa ako ng mama mo. Hindi ka na nga papahatid sa dorm eh...." Deanna insisted.
"Mamey, college na ako. I can manage na and besides, almost lahat ng gamit ko nasa dorm na. Liit na nga lang ng bag ko ohhh.." Jaycel said.
"Eh basta, if ako lang, alam mo namang hahayaan lang kita pero alam mo naman mama mo. Just take the umbrella kiddo and off you go. Mag-ingat ka and message me pagkadating mo ahhh?" Deanna replied.
"You both always worry about me. You both raised me well Mamey. I'll be fine! Mana kaya ako sa inyo ni mama." Jaycel said while flexing her biceps.
Lumapit si Deanna sa anak at ginulo ang buhok bago niyakap ito.
"Malaki ka na nga. Good luck sa first day of practice mo bukas as a Lady Eagle ha? Listen well to your coach and I might visit." Sabi ni Deanna sabay kindat at inabot ang payong.
Nagpabuntong hininga si Jaycel and gave in. She took the umbrella, hugged her mom and started walking off out of their subdivision.
Well, I love my parents. Hindi common type of family but they are the best. I can feel how much they love me like I'm really their own child.
I'm excited. I wanted to stay sa dorm para I can be ready and early bukas on my first day sa team. Well, both of my parents are volleyball stars and so syempre there's the pressure lalo't my mamey is a champion setter before. But unlike my mama, hindi ako open spiker, I'm better as a blocker like my titas – Maddie and Bea.
Sabi nila nasa dugo ko na daw ang pagiging champion and they are hoping that our batch can bring the crown back to Katipunan uli. Well, my parents tell me good stories about how mamey and my titas won the championship and honestly I really want to be like them too. That's why I train hard and listen to their advices. Sayang lang at si Mama wala sa bansa, because she's with the National team training for the upcoming SEA games.
Hindi naman kalayuan ang Ateneo sa subdivision kung saan ang bahay ng mga Wong. Nakarating naman agad si Jaycel sa campus but since feel nya talaga ang maglakad. Nagpababa agad ito sa may gate at naglakad papunta sa Eliazo. Medyo malayo pa ito pero gusto nya lang ienjoy ang every moment.
I've been here in Ateneo many times, we sometimes hear mass sa Gesu. Mamey always wanted me to become an Atenean like her kaya she insisted na dito ako mag-aral, buti na lang at napamahal na din ako sa school na to.
