Nobody ever comes back when they stray beyond the border surrounding the town. Nobody knows what's out there. The giant wall surrounding the town looms over it with a frigid coldness to it. Metal was no longer glimmering and new, but was now rusted and in need of a polish. If the wind blew hard enough, the scraping of metal could be hears all through the town. The wall's menacing demeanor was enough to stop people from leaving the town.
There have been attempts in the past, bu they were claimed to have been so long ago, they're practically legends now. Most have been stopped by police, but those who succeed have never come back. Today was the day when I would become one of these legends. I had packed a bag full of supplies. I brought food, water, rope, blankets, a bow and arrows, and my trusty dagger. Determination to make a life-changing discovery all on my own was what motivated me to do this.
I am now standing at the edge, looking up at the rusty wall. There is a door that was once built with the hope of making it back out into the world. It's like a small side door, but it works just the same. There was an electronic number pad along with two guards at the door at all times. Luckily, I had some very powerful friends.
As I walked to the door, I watched the guard on the left acknowledge me, then proceed to knock out the other guard. They opened the door for me, then we said our goodbyes. She would not survive this, for soon, the chief border police would converge of the spot and instantly stop any traitors of the law. I took my first step outside and the door slammed shut behind me.
The land was beautiful. The grass was full and deep green. Trees scattered here and there with thick branches and green leaves. Everything seemed to sparkle, and the trees glowed. A light blue pond glittered off to the right, attracting the most exotic looking animals I had ever seen. There were tiny fairies flying through the fields, occasionally stopping to pick something up from the ground. I took another step into the grass and off of the concrete pad. Something crunched under my foot and all of the creatures looked up towards me. I looked down to see what was crushed by my foot. It appeared to be bone of some sort. Looking back up, I could see the animals had gone back to the pond, but the fairies were inching closer to me with devilish grins on their faces. That was when the attack began.
