As I stood in the doorway of my childhood home, taking one last look around before leaving for California, my mind raced with memories. Memories of growing up with my cousins Mackenzie and Gianna Woods, who were like sisters to me. Memories of playing with Biscuit, my beloved lapdog who was currently barking and whining on the carpet downstairs. I couldn't help but smile at the chaos and excitement that filled the house as we prepared for our move.
I had spent the morning boxing up everything, from my childhood toys to my most cherished possessions. My room now felt empty and unfamiliar, but I knew it was time for a new adventure in California with my best friends.
As I made my way down the stairs, music poured through my headphones. Indie and alternative songs filled my ears, each one holding a special meaning to me. Girls Need Love by Summer Walker, California Gurls by Katy Perry, and Burying A Friend by Billie Eilish were just a few of the songs that would always remind me of this moment.
With Biscuit following closely behind me, I finished packing up the remaining boxes and called my friends to confirm our plans for the move. As I was on the phone, the doorbell rang and I greeted the moving company that I had hired to help us transport our belongings.
After double-checking that everything was packed and ready to go, I bid farewell to my childhood home and headed towards the car with Biscuit in tow. As I started the engine and pulled out of the driveway, a sense of excitement and nervousness washed over me. But mostly, I felt grateful for this new opportunity in California.
"California, here I come," I thought with a smile on my face as I drove off into the unknown future ahead of me.
