Fifteen

Monday, September 17 was the day everything changed.

The sun shone brightly in the sky as Juliana Cooper nervously walked to her first period class. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something big was about to happen. As she entered the classroom, she saw her relatives Mackenzie, Gianna, and Finn already seated, their eyes fixed on their textbooks. Juliana took her seat next to Jasper, a handsome boy with piercing blue-green eyes.

As the lesson began, Juliana's mind drifted to the task at hand - killing Tanner Luke. She had been chosen for this job, but she had refused to do it. She couldn't bring herself to take someone else's life, especially not when it involved reuniting her cousin Mackenzie with Tanner.

Suddenly, Jasper's voice broke through her thoughts, waving his hand in front of her face.

"Juliana, babe...talk to me," he said with concern in his voice.

"Huh? Oh sorry, I was just lost in thought," Juliana replied.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his eyes still filled with worry.

Taking a deep breath, Juliana nodded and replied, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just can't wait for all of this to be over."

Jasper gave her a quick peck on the cheek and turned his attention back to the lesson. But Juliana couldn't focus anymore; she just wanted everything to end.

When the bell finally rang for lunch, Juliana hurried out of the classroom and made her way to her car. Lost in her thoughts once again, she didn't see Adora crossing the street until it was too late. In a panic, she slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the car. Tears streamed down her face as she realized it was Adora lying on the ground.

But despite the accident, Adora was alive. And as Juliana knelt beside her, she couldn't believe how lucky she was. She had almost taken another person's life, and it was a harsh reminder of the consequences of violence. From that moment on, Juliana vowed to find a way to end all of this without anyone getting hurt.
