"Of course not! We made a promise remember?"
A small smile appeared on the little boy's face as his brown eyes met the eyes of his green eyed bestfriend.
"Hsin Yi-ah, can I ask you a question?"
"Ne! Sam Maekjong-ssi, you can ask me anything" the little girl giggled
"Wae do you wear that mask? Even if we are inside the palace?" The boy's eyebrows furrowed as he asked her. The little girl frowned before looking away.
"Mother says that it is to hide my flaws and imperfections, and even though we are inside people can still see me" the little girl explains while standing up and dusting her hands
She helps the boy and they continue their talk as they walk around the gardens inside the palace where the little boy lives.

"Sam Maekjong!!Aniyo, let me go!!!"
"Hsin Yi-ah!!!"
The cries and pleas of the two best friends were the only sound heard as they carried the boy away. Disappearing into the trees, the cries of the boy grew fainter until they couldn't hear him anymore.
Letting the little girl go, the guard stood beside the Queen who was observing the sobbing girl before ordering the guard to walk the girl back home, before turning around and walking back inside the palace.

Not long after the boy's departure the little girl was sent back to her own kingdom, the Wang Dynasty was the most powerful kingdom of China at the time and while it still is, many years have already passed and the little girl had now grown up to be a beautiful young lady.
While suddenly remembering the events of that night, a frustrated sigh came from the crowned princess as she await the coronation of her eldest brother to begin.
Huang,the 3rd prince scoots closer to her seeing her distress state
"Is something wrong , mèi mei?"
(Translation:Little Sister)
She waves him off
"I am fine, gē ge"
(Translation: big brother)
She smiles lightly under her white mask
"Do not worry about me"
Huang nods, his face contorting into a frown at the obvious lie his sister had told him
But no further words were expressed as the coronation began and the loud sounds of drums and cheers were heard.

A few days have already passed since the coronation of the 1st prince becoming the emperor. The siblings were all in the dining area as they conversed amongst each other.
"Sister, why won't you take that mask off? Mu qīn is not here, so why must you wear it?" Hui the 1st crown prince,now the emperor says turning to his younger sibling while reading a book.
(Translation:Mother)
"If you remember brother our mother still has her 'messengers' around to spy on me" Hsin Yi says writing on a book
As the siblings conversed a knock sounded, snapping all their heads to the direction of the door.
"Come in" Hong-Bin the 4th prince calls before a maid opens the door and bows while holding out a scroll.
Hongwu the 2nd prince takes it and dismisses the maid before Hui snatches it from his grasp and begins reading it.
"What does it say brother?"
"Must you make us wait?"
"Hurry up with reading!"
"Shush," Hui says as he scans the letter again, "The 'queen' regent of Silla is asking for us to renew our alliance with them. And to train her so called 'Hwarangs' who will be the future warriors of Silla" Hui turns to his siblings as he awaits their reactions
"Hwarang? What does that mean?" Hong-Bin takes the letter and reads it himself
"Unfortunately I won't be able to travel to Silla, as I still have to attend to my duties here as emperor" Hui says standing up
Hongwu stands up to face his siblings
"I'll do it, as I am the 2nd oldest prince it is my duty to attend if the emperor is not present" Hongwu says his attention focused on his eldest brother.
"Very well then, I entrust you to be able to sign the alliance" Hui says nodding his head
"I will come as well, as the youngest I do not have responsibilities that will greatly affect the kingdom in my absence. I can be the one to teach Hwarang, of course by your decree" Hsin Yi stands up as well and nods to her brothers before she and Hongwu leave to pack

The 2 siblings wave goodbye to their brothers before they rode off with their guards to Silla.

Upon arriving at the gate of Silla after their 4 day trip, of course stopping to rest at the many villages that are located in the area.
They wait for the guard to open the gate and lead them to the palace, they were given strange stares as the people of Silla have never seen clothing like what the foreigners were wearing.
Ignoring the curious stares and whispers of the people, Hsin Yi was lead to Hwarang House while her brother was lead to the palace.
