Normally I am not a nervous person. I am actually quite calm, but today is an exception. Today is the day my best friend Luke Hemmings comes back from tour. He couldn't have come at a better time actually. You see in two days is my birthday and then I will be 18. Luke and I, when we were younger, had said that for ny eighteenth birthday we would get burgers, fries, and a milkshake and take them down to the beach and just spend the whole night there. We did it for his birthday and I just hope that we will do it for mine. We both didn't want anything special for us when we turn 18 but sadly their career took off before he turned 18. He got tons of presents and letters from around the world and it hurt a little to see him so distracted by that. At the end of the night we ended up having a big fight and because we both had short tempers he left the next day and I was the one to apologize.

My phone rings and brings me out of my daydream. I look down at the contact and frown when I see my mother's picture appear.

"Yes, mother?" I ask as I let the car answer the phone because I am driving to the airport.

"Hello Sydney." Why they never call me dear or sweetie or honey is beside me. They just don't love me enough. Their words. Not mine. "I have called to inform you that your father and I are about to board our jet and head to New York for bussiness."

"What?" I choke out of my mouth. "But-but my birthday is in two days. You cannot miss your own daughter's eighteenth birthday!" I point out at her.

"Sydney don't act like a brat. You see us plenty. We'll try to fit in a skype with you. Goodbye." With that the call ends. I feel almost close to tears. They were always there for my birthday, even if they were gone the rest of the time they were always there that one day.

Airports. Its like god is punishing us. They're always so crowded and noisy and smell weird. Luckily the guys are escorted to baggage claim, where I am supposed to meet them, so I do not have to go through security to get into see them.

"Sydneyyy!!!" I hear a yell behind me and soon I am swept off the ground and into a hug.

"Ashton!" I wrap my arms around him and smile, missing his hugs. "Okay enough I cannot breathe." I gasp as he lets me go and grin at him.

I'm only alone for a second before I am double hugged by Calum and Michael. I choke as they tighten their hold on me. "Calum, Michael, I love you but I need to breathe." I say between gasps and they let me go, smiling sheepishly.

"Sorry Syd, we just got so excited to see you!" Ashton says as he bounces up and down. "I was the most excited, obviously." I laugh at him and look outside as cameras flash from everywhere.

Luke strolls up and smiles at the cameras. He waves and smirks, turning to me. "Hey Syd." He hugs me, very briefly and kisses the corner of my mouth once everyone goes to get their bag. At that kiss cameras flash everywhere.

"What the hell Luke?" I raise my eyebrows at him as he smirks and shrugs.

"What Syd?" He looks at me as if I'm stupid.

"Why the hell did you kiss me?" I push his shoulder. I tried pushing all my feelings for him down. I cannot let him reopen those feelings.

"It was just for the cameras, calm your..." I hit his arm before he can finish the sentence.

"Whatever. Its great to see you, its been so long." I smile up at him and all he does is shrug in response.

"Eh whatever it wasn't that bad for me." I look at him dumbfounded. How could he say that? I clench my teeth together and shake my head.

"Why are you acting like this?" I respond softly and he looks at me with his smirk.

"This has always been me baby, you're just too dumb to see it." I gasp audiably at that and before I can slap him my hand is pulled down.
