Episode 8: Truth Hurts

Alex keeps her distance from Derek while they go to court and an unexpected family member comes to visit. Meanwhile Star's album brings her recognition as well as controversy. Simone continues to pave her own career with Dominic's help.

Alex turned on the camera and sat on the couch in her sweatpants and yellow tank top. She's been making a video vlog for the baby ever since they found out the gender.

"Hey little mama. You are 30 weeks today and the size of a little melon. You keep kicking me in the kidneys but I know you're just stretching. We're half way through your room being done and I promise it's not pretty in pink. And we finally picked out your name. Your daddy is gonna paint it on the wall. He can't wait to meet you. He's so in love with you already and so am I. Anyway, you are going to be so loved and spoiled when you get here. I love you Mia." She grabs the remote and stops the camera recording, making the screen go black.

Derek is sitting on a couch across from a man wearing glasses with a notepad in his hand. The silence can be echoed as the clock is ticking by the second.

"How are you feeling today?"

"I've been tired. Leaning of the alcohol has been hard."

"So Day 10. You've talked about your drinking and depression. How are you feeling about the trial tomorrow?"

"I just want to put this whole Olivia mess behind me."

"I know we talked about it in our first introduction. You're still grieving over the lose of your grandmother and have experienced death and ran away from the pain. You tried to shelter it to the corner and keep yourself busy with other things."

"I wasn't keeping busy. I wanted to be a husband and support my family."

"Were you trying to emulate your late father? Do you remember much about him?"

"He was my super hero. He took care of me and my grandma. He worked his ass off everyday and he kept the house in order."

"Did it change after he died?"

"He left us with insurance and his pention. My grandma kept the house together."

"You had to assume the role of man of the house at a young age. You never took a break to breath and let people take care and be there for you. Do you feel like that?"

"I feel like I had to be strong for the people I love."

"Who are you being strong for?"

"My wife and my daughter."

Alex is sitting in the Doctor's office, laid down on the table, while Star and Carlotta are sitting to the side.

"You two didn't have to come with me today?"

"I told you you're not gonna be alone. I did it with Star and I'll do it with you ."

"Yeah. Besides somebody gotta be here to hold your hand while the doctor freaks you out." Star says as she eats her chips.

Alex is on her phone looking at headlines surrounding the trial. No one knows that he's in rehab other than the main people in the family. Her doctor walks in to do her check up.

"Don't stress yourself out." Carlotta says to her.

"I just don't want anybody to know where he is. After everything with the wedding, the tape, my dad and the tape, the last thing I want is people putting out divorce rumors."
