She starts ankle deep on a clear day
Heat from the sun burning her shoulders redShe steps into the depths of the lake
Hair tied back and shaking with silent dreadCold ice covers bare skin where no eyes see what she feels
Alone in her thoughts and choking back the shock of the waterShe waits
He said meet me at the lake
Noon
Saturday
At least a hundred other people are here
She swimsWaiting in water
Noon
Stand in the deep or move?
One
Time feels like a heart break
Two
Laughter
People splashing playing living in the moment
Three
Eyes see her reflectionShe stops drowning deep in the mystery
Heat from the sun burning the back of her neckShe steps out of the depths of the lake
Hair tied back and shaking with silent regretCold ice freezes warm thoughts of seeing him at the lake
Alone on the beach and choking back the shock of her tearsWaiting in water
He sees her and runs to her sideOver ten minutes late, she says behind green eyes
Laughing at the same moment she wanted to hideHe ran into the water and reached out a hand
The world of silent worry collapsed into a circus of noise
The colors returned and the sun still continued to burn
She ran into the water and reached out a handWaiting in water
He sees her and runs to her side
