Master Odysson led me to Seretha’s backyard and stopped there. When I walked out, he closed the door and looked at me. “Keroshan… I warned you from day one, did I not?” He asked.
I hesitated.
“I told you that you have to be careful when handling humans.” He frowned. “Aathiray is a small, young and weak human girl! You know that!”
“I know.” I said. “And I apologized. I was jumping to conclusions! I know I shouldn’t have done what I had done.”
Master Odysson shook his head. “It’s a little too late to be saying sorry.” He looked at me, angrily. “Had I not taught you how to control yourself?”
I didn’t respond.
“And had I not taught you how wrong it is to hit the girl you love?”
“I didn’t hit her.”
“Exactly, you did something much worse.” He snapped.
I bit my lip.
Master Odysson sighed. “Keroshan, this is your first and last warning. If you ever do anything like this again, I will have you punished. And I will make sure it hurts.”
I nodded.
“Now, I don’t seem to understand what’s going on with Serpethion. Explain that to me.”
“Aathiray is trying to tell me that Serpethion wants to kill me.” I said.
“And do you believe that?”
“No.”
“Why not?” He asked.
“Serpethion is one of my best friends!” I said. “That’s like saying that Chirpy wants to kill me!”
“But she said she heard the conversation with her own ears.”
“Mina could have been fooling around…” I knew it sounded unbelievable to think that a Raakshyan Pixie would dare to mess around but it was more believable then thinking that Serpethion wanted to kill me.
Master Odysson nodded. “I see.” He thought for a moment. “Then what’s going on with Jacob?”
“He’s a Raakshyan.”
“I know that… but how? Did you talk to Professor Wentworth?”
I nodded. “The Professor said that it’s impossible. He doesn’t believe it. No matter how many times I told him that it’s true, he said that he won’t believe it. There is no way that a normal human could just randomly turn into a Raakshyan.”
“I agree with him…” Master Odysson said. “Which is why I don’t think Jacob changed randomly… did you hear about the missing jewel?”
I nodded. “Does that have anything to do with this?”
“To be honest with you, I wouldn’t know.” He said. “What I do know is that I did see Serpethion talking with Jacob and Cecile.”
I was shocked by that. “When?” I asked right away.
“Yesterday. It was near the fountain, behind some trees. I pretended I didn’t see them, I think they didn’t see me either.”
I didn’t know what to say. “What were they saying?”
“I didn’t stop to listen. I didn’t think there was a problem, so I left. Now I regret it. I should have listened.”
