When we got home, I took a bath, ate and then Kero took me to his room, which is where I would sleep. After a short while, Kero left to look for Serena and I fell asleep.
When I woke up, I was startled by the darkness. When my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I started to cough. My throat was so dry that I couldn't even swallow. 'Water...' I sighed.
I lifted myself up and picked up the candle and lighter which Kero left for me on his side table. After lighting the candle, I stared at the door. I had no idea where the kitchen was, and in this huge house, it was going to take me forever to find it. I sighed again as I got up and walked out the door, candle in one hand, my teddy in another. I walked down the stairs and looked around, trying to ignore the creepiness of walking around in the middle of the night in a giant house.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps. I flung myself around, trying to figure out what it was, but saw nothing. I stood there for a second and stared into the darkness. What was I so worried about? How could there be anything creepy in the house without Kero knowing about it? I sighed. Everything's going to be okay. I turned around and started walking again.
I opened one of the doors and sighed when I saw a staircase. I knew for a fact that the kitchen was on this floor.
"Aathiray?"
I turned around, startled by the unfamiliar voice. There was no one there. "Who is it?" I asked.
No response.
My breathing started to speed up as my eyes widened to try and adjust more to the darkness. "Hello..."
"What are you doing here?" The voice asked.
"Who is this?" I asked, biting my lip. And then, as I turned around, my eye caught something.
Two, golden, glowing eyes looked at me, eyes which were attached to the silhouette of a man's' body.
I stepped back. "Who is this?" I repeated.
"It's good to know that you want to make my mission easier to complete, which I am assuming because you came to me rather than me having to come to you."
"What?" I stared at the golden eyes as they started to smile.
"How about you make it even easier and stand still so I can kill you."
Something inside me was telling me to run, so I decided to listen to that something inside me. I turned around and started to sprint out of the room, ignoring the fact that the fire on my candle went out and I could barely see anything.
I had no clue where I was running, but I eventually realized that I wasn't being followed. I turned into a room and sighed in relief when I realized it was the kitchen. I went against the wall next to the entrance and sat down, dropping my head onto my knees and listening. I tried my hardest to hear footsteps... but there was nothing.
I looked up and sighed. Maybe I was just imagining things. I shook my head and got ready to get up, but felt a hand on my shoulder. I opened my mouth to scream, but a hand covered it. I started to fight, throwing my arms and legs around.
"Aathy! What the hell? Calm down!" I heard Kero's voice say.
I stopped right away and then started coughing. My throat was so dry.
"What are you doing here in the middle of the night?" He asked, bending down in front of me.
"I need water!" I coughed. I rubbed my dry throat, I was parched.
Kero got up right away and walked to the counter, he poured me a glass of water and walked back to me. He sat in front of me as he handed me the glass.
