Cracked Foundations

Entry 9

Only a week had passed since the whole SCP incident, and Jack and Anna were already used to their surroundings in a flash. They had already burned the old SCP standard uniform that Anna had been forced to wear and gotten over the event rather quickly. The sunhat did wonders in covering her face whenever she dipped it down, and she could easily pass her porcelain white skin off as cosplay, the result of being held captive and what were called 24-hour challenges so the room service wouldn't be too confused. In that meantime Jack and the serpents manage to forge information about Anna, putting in birthplace, fake last name and everything so they wouldn't have to deal with the whole government thing and risk the SCP finding her again. Jack also restored all of his information from when the SCP ransacked his house so that solved that issue as well. A few weeks after the two relocated though the Serpent's Hand made sure that the SCP could never contain Anna again, giving them information on how her suicidal tendencies were actually cured when she was with Jack than say the SCP faculty and telling said faculty they were better off leaving Anna alone as Jack was making sure no laws of perception were broken, and Anna was much happier with Jack. The officials reluctantly agreed, after they were presented a sum of a hundred thousand dollars, to wipe her designation off and declare her neutralized, but Jack intentionally hid this news as he was crafting a plan to surprise Anna.

Also in secret Jack and the Serpent's Hand did away with the forged information, having a picture of Anna against a white background be used for identification and using more realistic information to completely do away with the whole SCP designation and be recognized by the government so there would be no issues, and at the same time Jack signed papers to officially recognize Anna as his adopted daughter. The Serpent's Hand and Jack hid this information from Anna until a certain day of the month came to, the day that Jack first freed Anna. That day, Anna woke up earlier than Jack and she surprised him by getting up in his face. He jumped back a little bit, but otherwise the two laughed it off.

"You surprised me there!" Jack chuckles.

"Got you." Anna laughs. Jack then realizes that today is the day he breaks the news to Anna.

"Well, I have a surprise for you too." Jack replies. Anna is curious as she cocks her head to the side.

"What is it?" Anna asks.

"Get changed, and you'll find out." Jack replies as he turns away and lets Anna change out of her PJs into her normal outfit. Anna has that same respect as she turns away and lets Jack change into his normal outfit, and when all's done the two do their morning routines and head down to the lobby to eat breakfast. Anna missed Jack's cooking, but the hotel's breakfast food was just as good so she needn't worry. This time that the two were eating breakfast was just enough for some serpents to make their way to Jack's room, and when Jack and Anna finished, they headed back to their room where they were greeted by some very happy looking serpents.

"...What's going on?" Anna asks.

"Close your eyes, and hold out your hands." Jack replies as she does so. One serpent places the adoption papers first, then the second one placed the American citizenship papers on top of that, and the third serpent places her new state ID on top of everything else, but it's not over yet as Jack places an official document from the SCP releasing her from their containment. When Anna finally opens her eyes she is overwhelmed, so she first starts with the document.

Due to the circumstances that you have been through and our realizations, we are officially declaring you neutralized, and thus, you are no longer associated with the SCP Foundation. You are no longer SCP-706, but the name that your caregiver has given you.

We've realized that our methods of containment were actually harming you more than helping you, and after hearing of your new environment and how happy you were, we realized that you were much happier, and much safer, with your new caregiver. May the future look bright, perfect porcelain doll.

Secure, Contain, Protect

"Wow... And there's more too!" Anna says as she hands the document to Jack and looks at her new state ID. "...What's this?" She asks.

"That goes with the paper you're about to read right now." Jack replies as she reads it and she looks like she could explode from joy as she reads that she is now a true American citizen, and that state ID is her proof!

"Ohmygosh I can't even begin to imagine what this last paper is!" Anna says, near the verge of tears. She gives the citizenship document to Jack and finally comes to the adoption papers. When she finishes reading she doesn't even bother to fight back tears as Jack hands the stuff to the other serpents as Anna does the same with her adoption paper.

"I wanted to wait for the day I freed you, I wanted to make that day special." Jack says. "Welcome home, Anna."

"Thank you so much I-" And from there on Anna just blubbers as she cries tears of happiness and joy and embraces Jack, her new dad, and he gladly returns it. The serpents clap for this happy moment, and when the two finally part, Jack has a big wet spot on his shirt but he doesn't care. "Thank you, dad."

"You're very welcome, my baby girl." Jack says.

"Hey, I'm happy for you two!" One of the serpents says. "Man that must have been quite the roller coaster to ride, but hey, you've made it through thick and thin."

"I'll make sure she never feels a day of neglect, especially after what her real father did to her." Jack replies. "Isn't that right baby girl?"

"That's right daddy!" Anna says as the serpents hand back the stuff to Jack and Anna, and they take their leave. Things were finally looking up for Anna as she finally had a person that she could call her daddy, someone she could call family, and she and Jack knew they wouldn't have it any other way.
