days passed by.
the crisp, colorless leaves that crunched under her legs all disappeared.
the grass turned dead, dusted sparkly white like powdered sugar.
cold, cold, cold.
hueningkai always sat with her on the bus.
he'd always ramble on about the most random things, and she'd be forced to listen.
always sitting 5 seats from the front, and 7 seats from the back.
things at the cafe had been running smoothly.
her shifts grew shorter, and she had time to be actually be involved in university.
she wouldn't lie, it was nice and peaceful for a while.
she watched the snowflakes fall from the sky, and melt into puddles as they touched the ground.
it all seemed too good to be true.
"we're here at yangseul community college." the bus driver said raspily into his microphone.
the two shuffled off the vehicle, hueningkai tightly wrapped in winterwear while she had settled for an old, thin sweater.
"hey, aera! aren't you cold?" he asked, unwrapping one of the various scarves around his neck.
"here, wear this."
she shook her hands as to say no, to which hueningkai stepped closer and secured it stubbornly around her neck himself.
"you're practically asking to get sick." he set his backpack on the snowy pavement. "you know what? you're taking one of my jackets too." he slipped his arms out of his sleeves before she could protest.
he held it around her shoulders and waited; she reluctantly put her arms through the sleeve with a frown.
he kneeled down, taking the zipper and pulling it to cover her up.
"better?"
she glanced down at him, and for a minute, just a minute, she felt a warm and fuzzy feeling inside her heart.
he was so extra sometimes.
"i'm fine," she muttered, looking away. "we're going to be late."
she began to walk inside without him, leaving hueningkai to frantically shove his arms through the straps of his backpack and run after her.
"wait for me!"
☽
as she entered the building, a wave of reluctance washed over her when she was reminded of the assignments that were to come.
sigh.
hueningkai excitedly rushed down the stairs and headed to the front where his old seat had been.
his smile was quickly replaced with a frown.
to his dismay, someone had already settled down in his spot.
they were captivated inside a book; their eyes gliding across the pages in wonder.
and apparently, were too engrossed to see him waiting.
too submerged in the text to see the fan club squealing around them as well.
she walked down the flight of steps herself, questioning hueningkai's troubled state as he childishly crosses his arms and stared down.
"what are you doing?" she asked, failing to earn his attention as she appeared by his side.
his lips curved into a pout and his eyebrows stitched together as he impatiently tapped his foot and ignored her.
her eyes darted to the person he was so evilly glaring at, and she could've sworn her lips parted in surprise.
who was that?
what an angelic being.
they somehow looked good under all the layers they were wearing.
she was first drawn to his rich, chestnut painted head. it was tousled, holding the appearance and texture of delicate clouds in the sky.
she then felt herself trailing down to his dark, almond shaped eyes. his long eyelashes extended from them, delicately brushing his rosy cheeks as he blinked.
what she was truly trapped in, though, were his plump lips. they were pink and glossy, separated as he was entranced by the story he was reading.
"excuse me?" hueningkai broke her out of her moment of admiration, addressing the attractive boy in front of them.
he lifted up his head, turning to face them with raised eyebrows and innocent eyes.
"yes?" his melodic voice complimented his cherubic features.
"sorry, but that's my seat. i'd appreciate if you'd move, please."
the boy closed his book, a contrite expression drawn across his profile.
"oh, i'm sorry! i apologize for intruding."
she felt her heart explode every time he said something. what was up with this guy?
"um, kamal!" she blurted out, louder than expected.
the two turned to face her, as she felt warmth rush to her cheeks upon the attention.
"he.. could just move over a seat, or something, right?"
he thought about it for a moment, before shrugging his shoulders.
"as long as you're not in my seat."
hueningkai earned a small laugh from the seat-stealer.
"sure."
he picked up his things and moved over to the seat beside hers, before setting down his book and opening it once again.
she nervously sat down herself, before hueningkai took his place next to her and brought out his iced smoothie.
"hey, new guy! i don't think we got your name." hueningkai slurped his drink obnoxiously in her ear.
he closed his book for good, sliding it into the bag by his chair.
"that's right, isn't it?"
his seemingly luscious lips tugged upwards, as he casually leaned against the desk and brushed his bangs out of his eyes.
"i'm yeonjun, nice to meet you."
