I stared out looking at the prison in its scariest state. So many innocent people have died on this stage. Landon's work boots were drenched with blood instead of the regular mud. His foot was gushing with blood. I gently touched his face and the blood vanished.

The audience filled in. "Vera?" Landon asked. I turned my head. "I need to tell you something or I'll regret it forever." His hand was trembling and I could tell this was terrifying for him. Considering all he has been through, he wasn't scared of many things. Yet, he was scared to tell me this. "I want you to know that I love you." Landon finally whispered. His heartbeat was racing.

"I love you too." I replied putting my hand into his. We squeezed each other's hands closing our eyes. I didn't open them to make sure they were there. I trusted that his hand was in mine.

Cole's eyes were filled with tears when he saw us up on the platform. He finally realized that all of this was real. And for the first time ever, Cole had no words to say.

The guards made eye contact with each other counting down from ten. As they came to five, they stopped. My eyes snapped open. The guards ran. The audience screamed and yelled scurrying everywhere.

I felt a weight on the platform. The clicks of high heels. "Run! Everyone, run!" a female's voice screamed. A warm hand touching my cold skin and untied me from the ropes.

"Landon!" I screamed. I looked to see Princess Heather untying Landon's ropes. Behind me, Prince Lucas was doing the same.

Princess Heather was saving Landon like he had saved her months ago.

I stumbled into Prince Lucas's arms and he carried me out. Princess Abigail unlocked each prison cell. Her red dress make her out. Prince Lucas pushed me onto a royal ship with the rest of the prisoners. I found Landon and Cole. "Cole!" I screamed and hugged him.

The ship was crowded with golden eyes and the thieves of the kingdom. Princess Abigail took all of the children below deck giving them new clothes to wear and food to eat.

The ship lead us to a huge castle near the shore of Cara. Princess Abigail moved the families into the castle telling them to be quiet and stay hidden. Prince Lucas, Princess Heather, Cole, Landon, and I went back onto the ship.

"Vera?" Princess Abigail called. I ran towards her. She was a lot taller than I expected her to be. Her eyes were kind and her dirty blonde hair had loose curls.

"Yes, your highness?" I called back bowing my head to her. Her posture was perfect. She handed me a tiny box engraved beautifully. "What's this?" I asked. She gestured for me to open it. I did. Inside was a golden necklace. The same exact golden necklace I had lost months ago.

I cradled the necklace in my hands. It was freshly cleaned; the nicest I had ever seen it. The golden eye seal stared at me. It had a new meaning now. It wasn't a simple picture anymore. I had pride in it.

"Thank you!" I smiled. I hesitated, then hugged the princess. Her smile was big. I glanced at her arm. She was a beautiful black eye. Her word read,

Revolution

"I've got to go, but let me know if you need anything at all!" Princess Abigail told me with a pat on the back. Her voice was clear and sincere. Those were two qualities in a voice I hadn't heard in years from a royal.

As the princess left, I ran up to see Landon. I had to tell him that I got my necklace back. He would freak! I searched for him everywhere. Then, I found him. He was sitting in a chair on the upper deck. A man sat next to him polishing sharp tools. I cocked my head. This was very weird. "You ready?" the man asked. Landon nodded. He wiped the sweat of his head off on his pants. He was nervous. What was this guy going to do to him? I ran up behind the guy taking his hands and mounting them behind his back.

"Put the weapon down!" I yelled in his face.

"Vera!" Landon cried. The man kept the tool in his hand. I tightened my grip on the man's wrist. He winced in pain. "Vera, stop!" Landon cried again. Finally, Landon got up from the chair and pulled me off of the man. "What are you doing?" he laughed.

"That man... he has a sharp tool and you were scared. Is he trying to hurt you?" I asked.

    "No!" Landon laughed.

    "What?" I asked confused.

"Look!" Landon laughed. He pointed to a book filled with pictures of the golden eye tribe and the symbols.

    "I don't understand." I finally admitted.

"I'm getting a tattoo!" Landon laughed. "This is Thorn, he's the artist."

    "Oh."

"You're right, kid. She is badass!" the man chuckled. The man was huge with muscles the size of grapefruits. He had ink head to toe.

"Thanks." I said. "Landon, I actually came to tell you something! Princess Abigail found my necklace!"

"Really? That's awesome!" Landon gasped. I set the chain down in his hands. He inspected it. "Woah! This is really old! Must be from ancient Giallo!" Landon observed.

"So, why did you decide to get a tattoo?" I asked.

"When I walk into Cara, I want everyone to know that I'm a golden eye and that I'm proud of it!" Landon smiled. He was beaming that day. He knew that there are hundreds of children like him in the prison... and now he knew they were free.

       "Landon?"

       "Yeah, Vera?"

       "I love you,"

"I love you too," he said. I dropped the necklace in the palm of his  hand. He gently fastened it around my neck. We smiled. We couldn't ask for anything more than to be safe and to be together.
