-Jungkook POV-

"Jungkook-ah, you're so strong and handsome. You even won first in all of the races today," this random girl says to me in a soft tone. I try not to cringe at how she's trying to seduce me. This, I've experienced back in my teen years before. Guys, I wouldn't mind them hitting on me, since when they'd realize that they couldn't win my heart, they'd just leave. Girls, on the other hand, are persistent and will stop at nothing to get what they want, until I scream it directly to their faces saying that I'm just not interested.

I sigh, backing away from the tight space between us. "Jieun-ssi, right?" I ask her as she nods like an obedient puppy. I almost barf in my mouth when she does that. How do I tell her that she doesn't look any cuter doing that?

"Look," I finally say. "I think you're a great person, but I'm not looking for a relationship right now."

"What? Who said anything about wanting to be in a relationship?" she says, pretending to act oblivious as she twirls her hair shyly.

I grimace at the sight, but soon go back to my poker face as I clear my throat. "I'm sorry, but I'm not interested—" But before I can finish, I hear the scurrying of feet on the other side of the classroom door.

"Oh my," she says as she smirks mischievously. "Seems like someone was eavesdropping on us."

I finally wiggle out of her grasp, and say farewell before walking out of the classroom to go meet Taehyung and Jimin. But, when I reach the front of the school, they're not there. I try to call Jimin, but he's not answering, and neither is Taehyung. Just what is going on?

-Jimin POV-

"Hey, Jimin, can you get that for me?" Taehyung asks as he feverishly plays overwatch on the TV in his living room. I smile at how passionate he seems to be about his games before walking over to the kitchen counter. I grab Taehyung's phone, only to put it down again, declining the call as I sit back beside Taehyung.

Jungkook. Three missed calls.

I wasn't ready to talk to him again. And, although I know it's rude to ignore one of your best friends, I couldn't care less. Though the jealousy had toned down once I got to relax at Taehyung's place, I still couldn't get the thought of Jieun invading Jungkook's personal space, acting like a sultry snake.

"So, who was callin'?" the dark haired boy asks as I get out of my trance.

"Oh, no one. Just some random person," I lie as I grab the consol next to me and start playing beside him.

"Ew, like a stalker?" I hear Taehyung say as I just laugh at his dorkiness.

"Yeah, maybe," I say as I see him scrunch up his nose in disgust. I just hope that Jungkook doesn't hate me after this.

----

It's the next day, and I still haven't contacted Jungkook. I've left my phone off since the incident back at the school, and I've even tried avoiding him all day. But, of course I can't ignore him for much longer.

I stumble back as I accidentally bump into something sturdy. I open my eyes to see Jungkook staring right back at me, a hint of sadness in his chocolaty orbs.

"Jimin, how are you? I've been trying to contact you since yesterday," he says as he approaches me slowly. I only back away from him with every step he takes towards me, my back finally hitting the concrete wall. "Why did you leave without saying anything?"

"I—" I try to speak, but I'm blushing uncontrollably at how close he is to me. "Y-you looked like you were b-busy, so..."

"So, what? Cat got your tongue?" he laughs lightheartedly but soon looks at me with a concerned expression. "Hey, what's wrong? You've been ignoring me since yesterday? I tried contacting Taehyung, but when I finally got to him, he said that he never got a call from me."

I hang my head low, guilt washing over me. I can't hold it in anymore as I look at him bashfully and tell him everything.

"I went to go get you so the three of us could walk home together, but then I saw you with Jieun, and then—" but before I can finish, my eyes are already filling with tears as I try to hold back the urge to cry, failing to do so when I feel Jungkook's strong arms wrap around me for comfort.

"It's okay, I'm here now," he says as I just cry even harder, grabbing ahold of his white shirt. "Look, if I hurt you in anyway, please know that I'm sorry. If you're wondering what my relationship with her is, then don't worry about it. I told her that I didn't want anything to do with her, okay?"

I gaze up at him with hopeful eyes. "R-really?" I hiccup as I try to speak to him.

He smiles reassuringly before wiping the tears from my eyes. "Yes. I'd rather be with my friends, than be in a relationship with her."

Friends.

I repeat the word in my head, smiling bitterly. We're only just friends. Nothing more, nothing less. That's it, and that's all we'll ever be.

"Thanks," I reply with a cheeky grin, ignoring the ache in my chest. "Let's go back to Taehyung. I bet he's wondering where we are anyway."

He laughs as he lets go of the embrace we once had, patting my shoulder. I already miss the feeling of being enveloped by him.

"Yeah, let's do that," he says as we walk back to the classroom where our best friend is.
