-Yoongi POV-
"Goddamn kids," I grumble as the last one leaves the classroom to get some lunch. I might as well go get something to munch on too, but I usually just sleep through this period of the day. Nonetheless, I force myself to get up from my desk and I start my walk to a nearby vending machine. The closest one is towards the principal's office, but I don't care. Who gives a fuck about a ill-tempered person who rarely leaves their office. For all I know, that would be me if I ever was the principal. All those other teachers and students are pussies. The kids these days need to grow some backbone while they're at school or else they won't be ready for college, no more adulthood.
I just about reach my destination when I hear a conversation just around the corner where the principal's office is. I stop in my tracks since the vending machine is right in front of me as I begin to feed it some coins. Though, I listen closely to the two people talking in case they have anything interesting to spout about.
"Jungkook, how are you? Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in the hospital?" I hear Mr. Kim, the one substituting as principal, speak as another person laughs. That man's a wimp, don't come at me. He's still scared of insects even though he'll be reaching his thirties in only a couple of years.
"I'm quite alright, and I was discharged early. So, I thought I'd stop by to see how things were going for you." I stop before I can reach for the bag of chips at the bottom that I paid for. That voice, I think to myself. I know that voice all too well.
And then it hits me.
Jeon Jungkook.
That bastard. If he was feeling better, why didn't he come to school? I scoff and take the chips in my hand, but I stay to hear the rest of the conversation.
"T-truth is, I'm actually having a hard time, being principal and all." Why is Jin telling that kid about his own troubles? That sounds like a him problem, and not a Jeon problem, unless you're talking about Principal Jeon. But, then I realize that those two have the same surname, though it's unlikely that they're related.
"Hey, why don't I help? I may be a teenager, but I still have the mindset of a principal." What? Mindset of a principal? Then, maybe he is related to the principal at this school? I shrug it off as I start heading back to the classroom.
"R-really? Thank you, Principal Jeon!"
I almost drop the bag of chips in my hand as I'm intrigued by what the other has to say. Did he just say Principal Jeon? That kid is Principal Jeon?!
I'm too overwhelmed about the whole situation, so I just leave and go back to the classroom. It doesn't make sense at first, but as I slowly start to put the pieces together—the principal suddenly taking sick leave, our class getting a new transfer student at an awkward time, his surname being Jeon—and now this. It all adds up, coming together like puzzle pieces to a finished picture.
With the rest of the time I have left before class, I search for old pictures of the principal when he was younger. Not so hard really, since he was quite popular, surprisingly. And then I find the name Jeon Jungkook. I'm shocked to see that the person, who is supposed to be the principal in his teens, looks exactly like the Jeon Jungkook in my class.
No, it can't be real. Can it? I think as I try to convince myself that this isn't possible, that Jungkook coincidentally looks like Principal Jeon. But, with all this information I managed to find out about him, I can't seem to come up with any other conclusion that maybe those two really are the same person.
I stop my researching as I hear the bell ring, but I know what I'm doing during my prep tomorrow, and it involves confronting Jeon Jungkook, or should I say, Principal Jeon.
