Dean Winchester stared at the black haired boy beside him, awkwardly tapping his feet and humming along to the music as if he weren't sure what to do. Dean smiled, amused by his embarrassment. A song played and echoed throughout the car. Dean tapped Castiel's shoulder and made a crazy dance move up, moving his arms around as Castiel laughed at him. He enjoyed hearing that sound. It sounded like angels.
Castiel got more comfortable after that, as far as Dean could tell. He moved around a little more, and even sang along to a few songs.
Castiel gave Dean directions to his house, and about halfway there, Dean turned the music down a bit and smiled at Castiel. "So... Trust me now?" He asked.
Castiel shrugged, blushing a bit.
Dean couldn't quite pick out himself what it was about Castiel but he was so intriguing. Dean Winchester felt almost drawn to him, as if he were a magnet. "How can I make you trust me more?" He asked, his voice low and rough, husky even. He couldn't help it though.
Castiel, a small look of shock on his face, whispered, "I don't know," in reply. His face suddenly became defensive. "What's it matter to you? you have Anna."
"I don't have Anna," Dean exclaimed, dismay passing over his face. "I just... Get around, that's all." He was attracted to both girls, and guys. A bisexual. And so, when he told John, his father, this John threw a total bitch fit. He remembered the beer bottles and blood- mostly from the punches John threw at Dean, little blood from the punches Dean threw in self defense- he had cleaned up that night. He didn't get by John was so resentful towards the idea of his son being gay, or bi. Why did he care anyways? It was Dean's sexuality, not the family sexuality, like you can treat a family pet or a family TV. His brother, Sam, however, was more than forgiving of the fact that Dean wasn't straight. He didn't care, as long as Dean wasn't mean. Because that's what really matters, Sam always said, a heart of gold. The eighth grader was getting more and more grown up by the second. Sam had most likely found out about Dean liking guys and girls from the screaming John had done all night, while Sam was awake with headphones in, trying to block out the sound of skin- on- skin contact.
Castiel laughed harshly. "Please! You were all over her, and it was pathetic, too."
"You kidding me?" Dean asked him incredulously. "You should try being on the receiving end instead of a bystander." He scoffed.
"A bystander," Castiel added. "That just so happens to know that you won't be able to shake me."
"Wanna bet?" Dean Winchester asked him, making his voice deeper than it already was. Castiel shivered without meaning to and blushed a little, but Dean caught it and smirked. "If you held up three flowers in the mirror, you'd be looking at four of the most beautiful things in the world.
Castiel held his straight face well but Dean could see him holding down a small smile. "That was the saddest thing I've ever heard," Castiel said laughing.
"Ah, really? Have you looked in a mirror lately? Because I'm pretty sure you're an angel who lost his directions to Heaven,"
Smooth as fuck.
"So, that is sad, huh?" Castiel asked.
"Well, it must have hurt when you fell from Heaven," Dean replied. That was not as original as he had hoped but hey, he was on a roll.
"Actually, I climbed my way out of hell," Castiel shot back.
Dean had to admit, he had a way with words. But he did too. "That must be why you're hot as hell,"
Castiel burst out laughing, unable to contain it anymore. Dean had to admit, he was pretty sad. But at least he had his looks. Castiel said, between laughs, "You... You are so pathetic!"
Dean Winchester rolled his eyes. "You try,"
Castiel smiled, cracking his knuckles and clearing his throat as if getting ready for a speech or something. "Alright," he said. "Can I have directions?"
Dean rolled his eyes. "To?"
"To your heart," Castiel answered, playing his character well. He smiled a bit. Dean smiled back.
Castiel continued. "Are you religious?"
"Uh..." Dean trailed off, trying to remember if he knew this one.
"Because you answer all my prayers," Castiel answered without missing a beat.
"Smooth motherfucker," Dean whispered.
Castiel laughed. "But wait, there's more," he continued. "I think there's something wrong with my cell phone. Your number isn't in it,"
Dean Winchester was stunned. This dude really knew how to flirt. Dean didn't even know if he could top that. "Jeez, son," he said, laughing.
"This is the weird conversation I've ever had," Castiel said giggling.
"But really where'd you get this sappy pick up line crap from?" Dean asked, stunned amazement in his eyes. He didn't see how someone could be this smoother without slipping on the floor.
"Mostly internet," Castiel admitted.
Dean laughed harder than he already was. "No wonder."
Castiel smiled. Dean stared at him as he had when they were in class several times. This time, it was like a trance that he could never pull away from. They held gazes until someone behind Dean honked and he slammed on the gas, mumbling, "Shit,"
Castiel gripped the seat tightly, laughing at Dean.
"Shut up," Dean said smiling lightly.
When they realized they were in Castiel's subdivision, Dean Winchester made a sharp right turn into Castiel's driveway. "Sorry," he mumbled.
Castiel grinned. "It's okay," he hesitated. "Gimme your phone."
"Why?" Dean asked suspiciously.
"I need to fix it,"
Dean smirked and pulled his phone out, handing it to Castiel, who entered ten digits into Dean's contacts. Sweet. A number, Dean couldn't help but think. "See ya, Cas,"
"Cas?" Castiel called back, frowning as he stepped out of the Impala.
Dean blushed deeply. "Yeah. Your new kickname," he couldn't believe he had said that. It made him seem cheap. You didn't just get to give Dean Winchester your number and then a nickname. But oh well. He had developed a deeply rooted interest in that blue eyed boy and wouldn't let go of it until he found out what made him so drawn to Castiel Novak.
Castiel said, "Has a ring to it," and waved, walking into his house.
