They stopped at McDonald's, after figuring out that Castiel hadn't eaten any food yet. Dean sighed, taking a bite of his fries. "Cas, we gotta do something about your father," he said. Dean took a sip of his soda, washing the fries down. He watched Castiel play with his food. The look on Castiel's face was so pale that it reminded him of the first time he'd seen his father hunting for deer. It was a huge deer, but it had been so terrifying that Dean was basically unable to talk for a month. He'd got home after and had thought about his mother, who had died in a house fire. He didn't know why. He guessed, later on, that the realization that the deer might have been a mother to 'Bambi' and that had hit him hard.
Castiel snapped him out of his thoughts.
"I've tried getting an apartment. Don't have the money, though," he smiled, sadly.
Dean pursed his lips tightly, looking grim. "Maybe you can come with me?" he suggested, not a trace of dirty meaning in his voice.
Cas laughed. "Dean Winchester," he said. "Haha- I suspected you'd try something on me soon enough."
Dean rolled his eyes, eating a handful of fries. "Cas, I'm serious," he said. Dean gestured to his plate. "After we eat, I want you to pack,"
Castiel looked a little stunned. "Dean, I-"
"Come on, Castiel. You're telling me it won't be fun to wake up next to me every day? To kiss my lips every morning? To be free to love me?" and he leaned in. "Plus, maybe we'll finally have sex,"
Castiel blushed deeply. "You didn't ask me for my opinion yet," he said quietly.
Dean stopped. "Yeah, of course, Cas. Take your time."
Castiel smiled. "Well, I have my answer,"
Dean perked up. "Really?" he asked, excited. He knew there were many obstacles; Sammy, his dad, school, and Castiel's father. But it would all be worth it in the end.
Cas smirked. "What the hell? Sure."
Dean almost kissed him right there and then. But he restrained himself, somehow. Castiel added, before Dean got too excited, "But we have to sort some things out first."
Dean's heart dropped. "Yeah, yeah, sure. I expected that."
Cas shrugged. "Minor things,"
"Like?"
"Like Sam. And your dad," Cas said. He'd never seen Dean's dad and that was the problem. He didn't know if he would be fine with Castiel staying there and he didn't know what kind of a guy he was. And as for Sam, he was mature, but Cas'd hate to make him uncomfortable.
Dean felt the same way. He knew Sam wouldn't mind, but his father was a different story. You never knew what he wanted. "Do we... ask them?"
Cas blinked. "I guess,"
Dean grinned. "I am perfectly okay with you and I telling my father and brother our sexual orientation and of the potential in the invitation of you living with us." He said in a British accent.
Cas smiled. "And I, you,"
Dean, of course, was nervous as all heck, getting into the car, wishing they could stay at McDonald's forever, and not going back to the house.
When they got there, Castiel kissed Dean, soothing his nerves. "Just relax," Cas hummed. "It's going to be okay."
Dean smirked. "Maybe we can 'just relax' on my bed later on?"
Cas punched him in the arm and got out of the car. Dean stepped out, too, rubbing his arm.
Sam Winchester was at the door, raising an eyebrow at them. "Cas?" he asked. "Dean, what-?"
Dean stopped him. "Cas and I have something to tell you,"
"Is it that you two are screwing like bunnies, and making out in cars because I really couldn't care less. Please, spare me the gory details,"
Dean stared stunned. He cleared his throat. "Uh, no, not exactly," his face was red. "I mean, we are together, just- we haven't done anything yet-"
Sam nodded. "So, now, he's living with us?"
Castiel gaped. Had Sam really gotten all of that from one meet with him? "Yeah, actually." He stared at Sam in dismay, his disbelief written on his face. Dean felt the same way, although he knew he'd told Sam all about Castiel, which must have triggered this 'finding.' His blush deepened, wondering where the hell this was going.
Sam smiled. "Welcome. Although, I don't know if John- er, my dad- will handle this as well as I did," he sat on the couch, propping his feet up on the coffee table and cracking open a soda. "He'll be here in about five seconds."
As if on cue, John Winchester walked through the door, carrying a bag which Dean and Sam both knew held his guns and clothes. "Hey," he said, walking through the door. He spotted Castiel as he set his bag down next to his shoes, which he promptly kicked off. "Who's this?" he gestured to Cas.
Castiel blushed and Dean could tell he was uncomfortable. So, answering for him, Dean replied, "This is Castiel Novak, dad. We're dating." He stared down his father, daring him to make a move. He turned a deep shade of purple, his eyes the size of golf balls.
"What the fuck did you just say?" he asked slowly, walking toward Dean.
Dean flinched.
"Well, whoopti-fucking-doo, now I suppose he's gonna live with us and we're going to be one big happy family?" John asked.
"No," Dean said. "Just with Sam and I."
John stared blankly. "What?"
Suddenly, police sirens sounded. John looked out the window, then at Dean, then at Cas, and out the window again and then swung for a dean. Pain surged through Dean's jaw. Sam stared, amazed. He was too stunned to do anything. But Cas rushed for Dean and tried to pry John off him.
They had planned this. From the time John came in to the time the police came to take him away, to keep Sam and Dean safe. Now they only had one more thing to worry about. Where Cas slept.
