Castiel walked into his house, locking the door behind him. He checked his phone- guilty as charged. Looking for Dean's text. He hadn't texted him yet but he honestly hasn't expected Dean to. He'd most likely just gotten home. There was no hiding it now. Castiel had hopelessly fallen for this green eyed Winchester. He hadn't meant to, of course, but he couldn't get over the sound of Dean's voice. It was enchanting, like an angel. He wondered about the flirting in the car. Castiel had been wondering about it ever since he walked in through the door. Had Dean meant for it to come out so arousing?
"Hey!" A voice said behind him.
Castiel jumped, gasping as he did. His father, Chuck Novak, stood behind him, his eyebrows knitted together in anger. "Where were you?" Chuck asked.
"I- uh, an after school club," Castiel lied, shaking.
"What kind of an after school club lasts until four fucking thirty? You were supposed to make dinner!"
"Sorry," Castiel squeaked out softly. He shrunk back as his father took a step forward.
"Oh, I bet you are. What the hell? You think you can just get away with an explanation and a sorry?" Chuck didn't wait for him to respond, though Castiel was thinking up a very smartass reply. "This isn't your house, Castiel. You can't just get away with this stuff."
Castiel nodded. "Yes sir," he said.
Chuck just grumbled. "Go make dinner. Now. Before I kick your ass,"
Castiel Novak walked away, sighing. He knew better than to object but right then all he wanted to do was to go upstairs and finish his homework, listening to Famous Last Words and silently hating life. And then maybe, after, getting out his old friend and making a few paintings on his wrist.
He started on dinner- chicken and mashed potatoes, after cleaning up Chuck's lunch he had made earlier that morning. He heard his father's footsteps before he saw his face, masked with fury. He held up Castiel's IPhone, which he had dropped in his hurry to make dinner. Castiel's heart dropped, a new number on the screen and a message below it. "Who's this?" Chuck asked.
Castiel decided to play it cool, acting as if he didn't know exactly who would be texting him at this time, the only person to ever text him in years, except for his mother. "I don't know, some girl maybe?"
"Don't lie to me," Chuck breathed, his voice steady and low, menacing.
Castiel bit his lip. "I don't know," which was half true. He didn't know what it said, meaning there was still a ten-ish percent chance it wasn't Dean and a twenty percent chance that it was a wrong number. And the other seventy percent chance was that it was Dean. "Read it to me."
Church growled. "Hey, Cas, this is Dean-" he glanced up. "Who the hell is Dean?"
Castiel's face reddened. Thank God he was in the kitchen, where it was boiling hot and you were expected to be red with heat. "Oh, yeah, I gave him my number at the after school club. He and I are supposed to be doing the project together."
Chuck Novak froze. He knew of Castiel being gay. Castiel suddenly remembered the beating he'd gotten from that horrible night of confessions. The truth had come out when Castiel had been caught sucking Uriel's dick in his room when he was fourteen. He was experimenting for a while, and that had been the day he'd realized he was gay. But that was also the day he realized that his father was a duche-bag who beat him. He remembered Uriel scrambling out the door, his family jewels still half hanging out of his pants, as Chuck turned toward him, taking his belt off and whipping him several times, calling him names like 'fag,' 'disappointment,' 'weak,' and his all-time favorite, 'failure.'
