Kiara continued pounding on her brother's side. "Kiooooonnn, play with meee, pleeeease."
His eyes slipped open, and then slid shut again. "Kiara, it's only dawn, stop it, go back to sleep."
"I've slept way too long, I want some energy big brother!" She began biting at his hair tuft.
"KIARA, DON'T PULL THERE!" Kion snarled.
"There, now you're finally awake!"
"I'm not playing these games!" he growled. The loud noises woke a few other lions up. And yet still, Kiara wasn't discouraged. Only a 3 month difference between ages and she's still annoying, Kion thought.
"Hey Kiara," Kovu came over. He was only a quarter month older than the one-month-old princess of the Pride Lands, yet he was less reckless than his close cavemate. "Why don't you play with me, give Kion a bit more shuteye."
"Hmm...maybe." she answered.
Then, Simba, the King of the Pride Lands and the father of Kion and Kiara walked over to the 3 cubs. "Kovu, I'd like Kion to also join you two on your little adventure, is that alright?"
Kovu looked up. "Well, sure. I do admit I can't always keep Kiara occupied-"
"Come on, Dad! I fell asleep a bit late last night!" Kion protested.
"I know son, but your sister is looking for your energy to join her." the King replied.
"Yeah! Come on Kion!" Kiara joyfully bounced a little. "Or else I can tell Vitani that you like her..."
That made Kion hiss, while also trying not to blush.
Simba leaned up close to Kion's ear and whispered "I know how annoying she can be, but if you go with her this morning, I'll let you get the first bite out of what Mom and the other lionesses catch today for supper. And you know that means that you'll get to choose a big and tender piece for yourself."
Kion finally got up. "Alright! Fine!"
"That's my boy!" his father remarked.
"Come on, let's go!" And of course, Kiara was always the one to bolt out the cave first, signaling the beginning of another exploration of a random unvisited spot in the giant kingdom.
