Sam's POV:

I heard the door slam grabbed Grace's hand before running down stairs. Something was wrong, I just felt it.

The room was empty, Cole was gone.

I reached for the note on the table at the same time as Grace and our hands collided, hovering over the note. She picked up the note and read it aloud.

He was going to California. I wondered about weather the fact that he was still a missing rock star had even crossed his mind. There was no way he wouldn't get spotted.

"Wow," Grace said, pretty much summing up how I felt in one word.

"Yeah," I agreed, we were both totally stunned.

"Well at least they're getting to see each other again. They never really admitted how they felt about each other," Grace said "I wonder if Cole even told Isabel he was coming."

"I doubt it, he's a 'Heat of the Moment' kind of guy. The thought probably just occurred to him and he immediately decided to go through with it, considering none of the possible consequences." And as soon I said it I knew it was true.

"Well I don't think there's anything we can do about it now. So what do you want to do for the rest of the day? We could for a picnic? What do you think?" Grace suggested

"Sure, that sounds like a brilliant idea,"

She hesitated a moment before saying "Do you think maybe we could go see my parents afterward?"

I hesitated, really not wanting to let her go see them, they always hurt her, even if they did do it subconsciously. She sensed my hesitation and said, "Sam, please. I just want to talk to them and assure them that I'm fine and upholding my side of our deal. I know I'm eighteen now but we shouldn't give them any reason to regret their decision or hold more of a grudge against you. Please?" She gave me a pleading look that she knew I couldn't refuse, "Sam?"

"Fine. A picnic sounds fun," I said, softening "Even if it has to end bitterly." I added under my breath.

Grace obviously heard my last comment and moved closed to me, so our bodies were pressed together and said, "Come on, Sam. You know, you might actually have fun," She teased, "I could make it fun?"

I moved my mouth to hers and she responded immediately, her lips coming to life under mine. Our tongues met and I groaned as she pressed her body impossibly closer to mine.

When I pulled away we were both breathing hard. "Okay, yeah. This might be fun after all,' I said "That's if you promise that there'll be more of that."

"I promise." She said, but it sounded more like a pant.

"Good. Then let's go."

The picnic was great. It was pretty much just two hours of making out and a little bit of eating here and there but now we had Grace's parents to face and I really want look forward to it.

As we turned down the road Grace used to live down I stiffened, memories of the year we met rushing back, when I had spent my nights in her bed as I had dreamed of for years before I had actually met Grace in person.

I hate that we had to be here, but Grace was right, we had to talk to them at some point so we may as well get it over and done with. And it's not like I wanted them out of our life, Grace would be really sad, they really weren't bad people, it's just they had an irrational grudge against me.

When we pulled up in the driveway Grace just sat and looked at the house

"We don't have to do this, you don't have to talk to them if you don't want to."

"No, I do want to and we do have to talk to them," She turned to look at me "And we're here now so we might as well get it done with, right?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Okay, well come on." She pulled the door handle and got out of the car, I followed. We met at the front of the car and immediately joined hands as we prepared ourselves before stepping onto the Brisbane's front porch. Grace reached to knock on the door and we only had to wait a few seconds before it was whipped open by Grace's Mum.

"Oh,Grace!" She said excitedly before looking at me and adding disappointedly "And Sam."

"Hi, Mum," Grace said "Is Dad home too? How are you both?"

Grace's mum was still eyeing me wearily. "We're fine. I'll call you Dad," She said before turning and calling down the hall. "Lewis! Grace and Sam are here!"

We all saw him suddenly appear from the kitchen and call, "Grace? Grace is here?" Before he saw us and rushed down the small length of the hallway. He pulled Grace into a rough embrace before pulling away and saying to me "Sam, good to see you've been taking care of our girl. You're well, right, Grace?"

"Yes, never been better," She said smiling at me.

"Well, I guess that's something." Amy said, smiling eventually.

After a quick lull in our conversation Lewis said "Well, why don't you both come inside. It's cold out here, wouldn't want you getting sick or anything," And I couldn't help thinking that he didn't know the half of it.

"Yeah, sure. But we can't stay very long, Sam and I need to get back home before it gets dark."

"Yes, of course," Amy said "Just come in for a quick catch up."

***

A quick catch up turned out to be quite a long catch up. By the time Grace and I walked out the front door it was dark and we had a bit of a drive to go.

"I'll drive," I said and Grace threw me the keys before getting in the passenger door. I got in on the drivers side and started the engine, Grace's classical music came blasting out of the speakers but I left it playing.

There was silence for a few minutes before Grace said "That wasn't so bad, was it? I'm glad we've talked to them again. Plus I was kinda missing them."

"Nah, it was okay. I don't want you to have to choose between me and them. I know how bad it feels to feel like you don't have your parents in your life and I would never wish that on you."

"Thanks, Sam. You know, I love you heaps?"

"I love you too, Grace," I said before leaning over the middle console and planting a soft kiss on her lips. The kiss quickly became heated and I pulled her over into my lap so I could deepen the kiss.

When she pulled away we were both breathing heavily and her pupils were large.

"Well, that was fun but we really should be heading home. Maybe we could continue there?" She purred suggestively, her voice deep and husky with lust.

"Sounds like good idea to me," I restarted the engine and pulled out of Amy and Lewis's driveway.
