Isaac slammed the door behind us and locked it. The door was made of iron, impenetrable iron it seems as the gunshots barely made an imprint in the door.

Every shot, I jumped, shutting my eyes and praying that this is all a dream. Jensen attacked us, knocked me out but nobody is hurt... it's not fatal.

"I don't have your mother." Isaac lead with, "I never had your mother." My eyes snapped open and I glared at him. His face gave nothing away. He could just as well be lying to me.

"The school." I breathed, "You found my keys, my new address... you knew where she was!" My eyes filled with tears and they spilled down my cheeks.

My mind was whirring with worry. Devon, Harrison, MYSELF.

Isaac nodded, "So did Victoria. Vicky has been missing for as long as your mother has."

   "Your goons-" I shrieked.

   "Watch your tone." He hissed.

"You attacked the Serpents house." My voice was edged with fear as I recalled the attack, me and Devon hunched in the corner, the gunshots that killed Paul and Trent.

Me being smothered by a spy... not a spy, but someone they'd gotten to, someone they'd blackmailed.

"The bitches mother dies..." I whispered. Isaac frowned and made a small noise, "Victoria took my mom and lead the attack didn't she?" I murmured.

Isaac lowered his eyes and nodded, "She lost it after I..." He shuddered, "after I said 'who could ever love you'." He admitted, "She hates us. All three of us. Me, you and Devon." I mouth went dry, "She needs us all in the same place at the same time. She knew Devon was protecting you so by taking your mother she has you both on her tail, but by using my gang for her own personal misadventures-" he scoffed, "she's in the shit with me."

"She's suffered." I said weakly, "the poor girl... she lost it years ago, it was just a matter of time before-"

Isaac interrupted me, "-before she wanted to get even." I nodded, "don't get mad get even." He shrugged.
He told me this, all the time, to justify things he did. He cheated on me and said "don't get mad, get even" I remember even the notion of him willingly wanting me to cheat on him made me sick to my stomach.

"We have to get to my mother Isaac we just have to..." I folded my lips and sobbed. Isaac, to my surprise, wrapped his arms around me and sighed.

"I really am sorry, for everything. Maybe, if I hadn't have been born into this role, I'd have been a better man." He released me and looked into my wide-eyes, "I wish I was a better man for you Aria. I do." I couldn't find the words, so I simply nodded once.

Words left me. The hatred I felt for Isaac had climaxed dramatically.
"I don't need your sop-story right now." I gritted out, "I need you to call off your members and find my mother." My voice cracked, despite my willing it not to.

Isaac squared his shoulders and bowed his head slightly before reaching into his pocket to pull out his phone, he sighed and lifted it to his ear, "Call them off. Yes-" he seemed agitated, "-NOW FOR FUCKS SAKE ASHER!" He bellowed.

Asher. The guy from the shopping mall.

Isaac bristled and swung the metal door open, signalling for his arm for me to leave. Slowly, I crept past him, picking up the pace as I found my way back to where me and Harrison were hiding. Harrison's was still there.

He looked up and his eyes widened, "ARIA." He croaked out, finding his feet. He limped away from a pool of blood that had surrounded him.
I bit my lip and held out my arm, taking his weight and helping him into the foyer where everyone was standing. Facing off. But no fighting.

Some bodies lay scattered on the floor, others stood slightly hunched over - grimacing. One of which was Devon.
He seemed more than pained though. His eyes were frantically scanning the room, trying to read it?
Then, they landed on me and he visibly relaxed. Maybe not... he was looking for me.

He ran over and cupped my face, rubbing his thumbs over my cheeks, "You're alive. Oh my god. Thank god, I couldn't find you..." Devon spoke quietly, still acutely aware of the other people in the room.
He eyed up Harrison but Harrison waved him off, "I'll live." There was no conviction behind it.

Devon looked behind me and his jaw set. I felt, more than saw, Isaac's presence as he circled Devon, "I'll help you." Was all he said, "but you must pay for the violence you displayed here today." He added.

I shook my head, "Pay?" I mumbled, "dev-Devon what does he mean.... Isaac? Pay? What?" My words were clumsy and rushed as I tried to make sense of what he was saying.

Devon paled slightly, "I won't give you her."

"Oh, but you must. How else will you find her dear mother?" Isaac grinned, looking over at me with hungry eyes.
I want to be a better man for you. My ass.

"You don't even know where she is!" Devon exclaimed, throwing his hands up. Some of The dragons started, raising their guns up toward him and positioning themselves on defence as Devon's serpents responded.

Isaac tutted, "I haven't tried."

"Maybe you should. Before I agree to anything, you should." He retorted, standing in front of me, "I am not a fool, Kingsley."

Isaac's head lulled to the side as he regarded me and Devon, "Oh. Oh but you are." Devon visibly tensed, "you see, if you don't give her to me, I'll just take her. The ratio of dead dragons to serpents is a landslide." He motioned to the bodies surrounding us, "there's no need for more bloodshed. Surely you wouldn't knowingly endanger the lives of your gang? That's not the mark of a very good leader, Devon." He spat.

Martyrdom. That's what he was asking for.

"Ok." I said weakly. Devon swerved to face me, a look of helplessness filled his eyes. Now I've said it, I can't go back - and he can't do anything.

"A day." Devon said softly, looking back at Isaac, "I'll bring her back in a day." When Isaac took a breath to speak Devon continued, "If I take her anywhere, I know what'll happen... you'll find her and take her. I get it. Just give me a day." Devon sounded almost like he was pleading with Isaac. Which somehow made it worse.

Isaac's brow furrowed and he waved a dismissive hand, "24 hours serpent shit." He said simply, pulling his phone out again and pressing the screen, he lifted it up and grinned, "Starting now."

Oof. Oof. Oof. I'm seeing Aladdin tomorrow and I'm excited!
