Luke took me back to my room after the big, creepy man came and took away the freaky vampire.
After changing in the bathroom, I sit on the bed and he sits beside me as if it's the most natural thing in the world.
He notices my tension and chuckles, "Relax. I don't bite."
I roll my eyes at his corny joke, "You don't have to stay here, you know. I'm perfectly fine on my own."
"Obviously," he grins, "But I want to know more about you. You just took down a rogue, that's gotta feel awesome."
I shrug, not knowing what I'm feeling right now. It was more of an adrenaline rush, really. Now that it's over...I feel blah.
I rest my head against the head-board, "I'm scared as hèll, right now. To think creepy vampires are after me..." I realize just what predicament I'm in and bring my knees up to my chest, "It just makes me afraid."
To think...I could've died. And not any of my friends back home would know.
I only have Aunt Bee for my family, and she's not even my real aunt. She took me in whenever I was left at the towns gates.
I hide my head, missing everyone. I miss Lily, I miss the terrible breakfast we would have, I miss the loud, obnoxious kids who would scream when I walked in, in my underwear.
They were my family.
"Hey. I know it sucks, but it gets better."
"Yeah," I scoff, "It's always been my ultimate dream to be one of the most annoying vampires own person blood bag."
He chuckles, "He is interesting. But he has a good heart."
"He has a heart?"
"Well....he has good intentions. He can't help the fact that he survives on blood. None of us can."
I think about his words but don't say anything.
"You know...you're really beautiful."
I stare up at him, "What?"
He looks down at me, his crystal eyes shining and moving around his pupil, "You're very beautiful."
I try to hold back the laugh that was building, "Um...thank you?"
"What? You've never been called beautiful, before?"
"No, not really. There's not many people in the Town."
He looks at me, "Well now you have one person to remind you."
I sigh and lean back, "What is beauty? What makes a person look at someone and think, "Wow, she's beautiful." Is there really any definition for it? For all we know, the definition of beautiful could be green and bald."
He chuckles and pulls out his phone, "Well," he starts tapping on the screen, "The definition of beauty is..."pleasing to the senses or mind aesthetically."
I look at him, "Did you really just look that up?"
He laughs, scrolling through his phone.
I look out the window, it's already dark. The beautiful sun is gone and won't be back until morning.
I feel someone start to tickle my side and I laugh turning to hear a click.
"Did you just take a picture of me?"
He nods looking down at his phone, "Yep. Now when people google beautiful, they'll see a picture of you."
"Oh my gosh." I cover my face in my hands, "What people? Majority of the worlds population are vampires. And the Town doesn't have much internet."
