Taking my leave of absence for a while, I had to call the manor and put Luke, who was nearly recovered, in charge of things until I found Eliza.
I had make sure Michael and Janine were okay, bringing them in medical supplies that I could find this god forsaken city.
I changed back into my jeans and t-shirt even though the weather here was freezing for summer. The constant gloomy weather bumming out my mood even more.
Does the sun hate this place or something?
I walked through the abandoned streets, trying to clear my mind and think of something.
They couldn't just vanish could they?
The constant dripping of water from last nights storm irritated me, and I remember that one insanely loud thunder, and the lightning. It brightened up the entire sky, that you could see everything as if it was day.
I kick a rock up the cobblestone path, feeling as if someone was watching me.
I stop and squat picking up the rock, before putting it in my pocket.
Turning around nothing's there but a bunch of old buildings, boarded up and closed off.
The wind runs through my hair, chilling my face until I turn around and continue walking.
He said he wanted to take her somewhere no one would find her....that could be anywhere.
That could be his dead grandmothers basement for all I know.
I hear cans rattling and I turn my head to see stringed cans, hanging over window shutters.
I could smell it from here, holy water.
Just the smell burned my nose and it nearly compelled me to walk away until I saw someone staring down at me through the glass.
It was a girl, no older than fifteen probably, just staring at me.
Her black hair was in a short bob cut, framing her dark, olive toned skin. Her eyes were unrecognizable from the dark shaded room. She stared down at me though, with an intense gaze and stiff mouth.
I shove my hands in my pockets, raising my eyebrow at the stranger.
She closes the curtain and I stand there staring at the dark green fabric swaying back and forth.
I continue my walk whenever a door opens and I'm pulled inside roughly, a dark and dusty room with plastic coverings over all the furniture.
Someone puts their hand over my mouth and I smell the lavender scented candles throughout the room. Her voice is deadly and low when she speaks with a thick, African accent.
"This is the third time you've walked past this road....either you're lost or you want something."
I feel a sharp object against my back and remain calm as she takes her hand off my mouth, "I'm just clearing my mind."
"No bloodsucker clears their mind," she sneers, "You don't have a mind to think."
"Well that's harsh."
She pushes the blade deeper into my back, cutting through my shirt, "It's a harsh world."
I think of how Eliza was taken from me, the second time this week, "Yeah. Tell me about it."
She doesn't say anything and I take a deep breathe, sighing at the recent loss.
"You breathed...." She jerks me around, grabbing my collar and pushing me against the wall, a knife up against my neck while her hand is placed over my heart.
