(A/n: hey friends, uhhh so it has been a WHILE, like over a year. Some stuff went down with my mom and I and I also lost my password to this account so I couldn't update even when things got better. I did not expect this story to take off like this, and I will plan to continue it. Thanks for sticking around and for all the support!!!! My sincerest apologies for being MIA for so long. Love you guys and enjoy the update.)
******since it has been such a long time, I'm changing up the plot a teeny bit. Ed is already a State alchemist and the whole Nina situation has already happened. But they have not gone to Lestetho (idk how to spell that and I'm lazy) or that one coal mining town with Yoki or whatever his name was. They are about to go tho because I really want to write that scene where Ed tells Rose about the man with wax wings (Icarus) referencing when (y/n) told Ed that story at Trisha's grave. Got it? Cool. On with the story!******
Ed's P.O.V.:
I think that just happened, like ACTUALLY HAPPENED. She kissed me, and now she's gone, and I did nothing. Absolutely nothing. I didn't reach out, I didn't kiss back, I'm actually still standing in the same exact place that she kissed me in. I finally found it within myself to move, I rushed towards the most obvious places she could be, her dorm and the cafeteria, but alas she was nowhere to be found in either. I was overwhelmed with emotions of confusion, desperation to find her and get answers, excitement that she kissed me, and anxiety of what this meant for our relationship dynamic.
I ran into Mustang while feverishly rushing through the hallways in search for (y/n). "Woah, slow down there Ed," Mustang said lightheartedly, chuckling with a leisurely smirk on his face. His expression immediately shifted into one of concern, as soon as I looked up at him, his mouth turned down and his brows furrowed. He saw my flushed cheeks and my wide, worried eyes, "Hey, what's wrong Elric?" It was the most grim I had ever seen the easygoing Flame Alchemist. "(Y/n). I need to find her but I can't and I feel like I'm going to explode because I am so confused and I just need her..." I rambled out of breath. Mustang put his hands on my shoulders to ground me as I was close to hyperventilating. "Ok, firstly, breath Edward. She is in the training room, at least last time I saw her, but I must warn you she looked really heated..." I looked up at him, focusing on evening my breathing, which would be in vain as I suddenly ran as fast as my legs would take me towards the training room. "Thanks Mustang, I owe ya one!!" I yelled back to him as I left him dumbfounded in the hall, "You and I both know you won't live up to that," he mumbled breathing out a laugh.(Y/n)'s P.O.V.:
Stupid. I was an idiot to do that, he didn't do anything because he doesn't like you like that. I punched the punching bag once more, the impact of my ungloved fist hitting the bag resonating through my arm, the adhesive of the athletic tape on my knuckles pulling at the irritated skin as I had been going at this punching bag for about 12 minutes straight. My shoulders were tight and aching, the joints of my elbows were sore, my fingers were throbbing, stupid, I brought my fist to collide aggressively with the synthetic material of the bag. Another shock wave vibrated through my upper body as I took out all of my anger and emotions out on the poor, unsuspecting, innocent sack. As my emotions all come further and further to the surface of my conscience, the more the furiousity and speed behind my punches increased; my emotions blocking out the amount of pain bursting throughout my arms with each punch.I felt a hand press down on my aching shoulder, not realizing how much pain I was actually in until pressure was applied. On instinct, and in my frenzy of blind hysteria, I quickly turned to the individual who was behind me, my fist raised to attack the sneaky person. My expression softened as I saw wide honey-colored eyes staring at me and I lowered my fist that was at the ready to drive into him. My arms lay limply at my sides; the entire time I was punching the bag my mind was filled with all of the things I would say to Ed, what I would do when I saw him, how I would explain myself to him; they all vanished from my mind. "(Y/n)..." he breathed, we were both just staring at one another, standing at an awkward distance where we were both cautious of getting too close. "Edward..." I said back, he was a little shocked at me using his actual full name, I could see his a dark pink tint crawling up his neck. "Can we go somewhere more private?" I asked, not wanting to risk someone walking in or listening into our conversation. He nodded, breaking eye contact with me and focusing on the floor, "Yeah, sure," I started walking towards the door and Ed followed after me.
