EIGHTEEN
I was made to stay off school for the rest of the week. Which was, of course, boring as hell. It consisted of me sleeping, being hooked up to drips, or doing nothing.
I had managed to convince my dad and brothers to let me go back to school on the following Monday. Which I was so happy about. Even though I, of course, hated school, I hated sitting about and just waiting to die more.
Ethan had woken me up nice and early, I refused breakfast and decided to take more time getting ready.
Through the past week my health had been declining, a lot, and it was starting to show. As I sat down to do my hair and makeup, you could see how ill I was.
My eyes and cheeks looked so hollow and you could see all the bones sticking out. I looked like a ghost as well with my pale complexation.
The weirdest thing about my face though was that the scratch where Alex had caught me when he shifted had gone. It cleared up a couple of days after it happened.
I decided to do my normal makeup and managed to put my hair up into a ponytail. The next challenge came to clothes.
My jeans were far too big, meaning I had to make another hole in my belt to keep them up. Ethan's school top was like a tent on me, so I tried on the school tops mum had bought me, luckily, they fit, so I had something to wear.
I was just putting my shoes on when I hear Caleb shout my name, "Elle!"
"Coming!" I shout back as I finish putting my shoes on. I grab my glasses and bag and walk out of the room.
I walk down the stairs to see my three brothers there.
"Ready?" Caleb asks me,
I smile and nod.
We all leave and walk to Caleb's car. He unlocks it and we all get into our normal places; me in the front with Caleb and my two other brothers in the back.
The journey to school went quick and we were there within half an hour. We all climbed out and Ethan linked arms with me.
"You're going to be fine today yeah?" he asks,
I nod and smile up at him, "Of course I am"
"Every time you've said you'll be okay, something happens," Aiden says linking arms with the other side of me,
I laugh, "Yeah well today is going to be fine. I can feel it"
---
Just like I had thought, the day went fine. We were on the last lesson of the day and everything had gone fine.
I hadn't seen Alex all day though. I wasn't sure how I felt about that Was he okay? Did he regret our kiss and he didn't want to see me?
It was the last class of the day; science with all my brothers. It was boring, and I wasn't paying attention, but I was just happy to be out of the house and with them.
"I just need the toilet," I whispered to my brothers as I stood up, "I'll be right back,"
This was one of the times I actually needed the toilet and wasn't lying to get out of class.
I excused myself from the class and headed down towards the toilet.
I could hear footsteps behind me but ignored them. It's a school so I'm probably not the only one out of class.
As I walked into the bathroom I was thrown to the floor. I put my hands out to protect myself as my glasses fly from my face and across the bathroom tiles.
"What the h-"
The person kicks me onto my back and I feel pressure on my arm.
"Little bitch," the person hisses,
I look up to see Chelsea stood over me, turns out its her foot that is on my wrist.
I roll my eyes, this girl again?
"I thought I told you to stay away from Alex?" she says, putting more pressure on my wrist,
"I don't know what you're talking about. I haven't been near him,"
She presses down harder on my wrist, "I know you stayed at the pack house the other day,"
I wince at the pain in my wrist.
"Stay. Away. Last. Warning." She says before putting all her weight on my wrist.
I yelp and scream as I heard the bones break and tears started to fall from my eyes.
I hear the door to the bathroom open and close as she walks out, and I'm left in silence.
I pull myself up and cradle my painful wrist as tears roll down my cheeks, it was so painful I was sure she'd broken it.
I stayed there for a few minutes before taking a deep breath and pulling myself up. I grabbed my glasses from the floor and put them back on before looking at myself in the mirror.
There's no way I could hide this from my brothers, I'd have to lie...again.
I walked out of the bathroom and looked both ways before coming out. Thankfully Chelsea had gone.
I walked back to my classroom and peered through the window, I could see my brother's from where I was stood and tried waving to them to get their attention.
After a few minutes Caleb finally noticed me and walked out of the classroom, ignoring protests from the teacher.
"What's wrong?" he asks when he enters the corridor,
"I slipped and fell in the bathroom" I nod down to the wrist, "I think I've broken my wrist,"
"For god's sake Elle," he says taking it and gently moving it,
"Don't do that," I scream out, "It hurts,"
"You've been back, not even a day!"
"It wasn't my fault I slipped," I argue back, "It was an accident,"
My two other brothers must have heard us talking from the classroom and entered the corridor as well.
"What's happened?" Ethan asks,
"She fell, I think her wrist is broken," Caleb explains, "I'm going to take her to dad's, you two stay here and I'll be back to pick you up after school."
They both agreed, and Caleb and I head out of the school's main entrance to the car park. No one at the reception even asked where we were going? Or why we were leaving? What a great school.
Caleb had already contacted dad through mind link, so he knew we were coming, and we were at his work within fifteen minutes.
I needed to have an x-ray on my wrist and a few tests. But turns out I had just sprained my wrist and not broken it. Which is weird because I could have sworn I heard the bone break.
I had to wear a support for the next couple of weeks to help it heal, but other than that I was going to be okay.
Caleb and I picked my other brother's up from school and headed home. My dad had stayed at work as he had more people to see and said we'd see him later.
I didn't want dinner but decided to sit down whilst everyone else ate. It was just nice to be around people.
My wolf and I were happy with our water.
