Chapter 6
"But why would he do that?" I ask aloud. Ashten and I are at the spot and we were just talking about everything that happen at that last deal.
"I don't know. It could be because he did know of you and Tatiana or it could simply be just money. Just don't know," Ashten says tiredly. We've been going back in forth on reasons for the past week.
Everything's been so different this past week. Living without someone you've been used to living with for a while, is real different. You wake needing to fill that void and empty spot everyday.
Ashten has been trying to get me to go out and get a new girl but I just don't feel like it right now. All I've been doing is work. Twenty-four hours. Work. Either here at the spot or at our studio. I've been getting a lot more work done but that's only because I don't have any real reason to go home. Or to Ashten's house. I'm still working on getting another house.
We've been making a lot more money though. That's always a good thing. But I'm still missing something and I don't want to go back to Tati because she's familiar because I'm tired of the same deal with her and I can't break. I don't know. Maybe I do just need to get out again.
"Hey Ashten," I call him.
He pops some almonds in his mouth. "Yeah?"
"Can you come help me with moving the rest of the things out of my house?" I asks him, deciding to just move on and get over everything.
"Yeah. Sure. When?" he replies.
"Today? I want everything over with today," I say firmly believing in my words.
Ashten gives a crooked smile. "That's my man. I've been waitin' all week for this moment. Of course we can go today," he tells me.
I shake my head at his reaction.
"When do want to go?" he asks me eating some more almonds.
I shrug my shoulders. "Whenever," I say. "Today though," I add on to be clear.
"We can go now," he suggests. I look at the clock. 6:00 exactly. It's about to get dark soon.
"Sure."

"You need me to come in and help or you got it?" Ashten questions.
We just got to Tati and I's old house. I notice immediately that Tati didn't park her car in the garage which is unusual for her. Usually I'm the one who never parks in the garage. She always does.
"Nah, I got it. It's just gonna be a few things," I tell him.
We decided to leave my car at the spot and take his here. We'll probably get my car back tomorrow. It just seemed a little easier this way. Besides, we're going to the club later tonight too.
I unlock the door and step in.
"Tati-ana?" I say correcting myself to see where she is.
No answer.
I continue walking towards the bedroom. I shove my keys into my jacket pocket and look around the living room. She's not there. I know she's here though. I mean her car is out front and it's a little too early for her to be at the club.
"Tatiana?" I shout walking in the bedroom.
Still no answer.
I let out a huff.
"Guess you're not home," I mumble to myself.
It makes me wonder if she went to another man already. What if she went to Chris? What if she knew about the whole thing that was going down between me and him? What if that's why he had me shot and now she's gone? With him. The perfect escape plan.
