STRANGE DEVELOPMENTS
"Tristen!" Zay screamed as he ran over to him. Zay and Tristen were at the mall and they were going to meet Mya, Maeve and Max.
"What do you want, stop shouting," Tristen said slapping Zay on the arm as he ran past. Zay turned and sat down on one of the chairs of the table Tristen was waiting at. Zay yanked his bag off his shoulder and shoved it on the table.
"What are you doing," Tristen asked watching Zay carefully, "are you ok?"
"I found... something..." Zay said as he rummaged through his bag.
"OK that's a start, what did you find?" Tristen asked slowly.
"This," Zay said took the journal out of his bag and set it on the table.
"What is that?" Tristen asked leaning over to look at it.
"It seems to be a journal of a girl from the 1950s," Zay said. He leaned closer, "but the thing is... Aksel's in it."
"What," Tristen said and pulled the journal towards him and opened it. Zay jumped slightly, his hands moved over it.
"AYE! be careful," Zay cried, Tristen lifted his hands and glanced at him.
"Sorry." Tristen looked down at the writing and read through the pages of where he opened it. "This is could be any Aksel, how do you know it's... our... Aksel?"
"Well this person... Olivia... describes her Aksel to look exactly like our one..."
"Still not enough..."
"AND," Zay leaned in closer, whispering, "yesterday, I heard Aksel and Riley fighting about something, I bet it was the... time machine." The last words were barely audible.
"So, it is working?" Tristen whispered. Zay opened his mouth to reply when a voice called out their names. They turned, Zay quickly slipped the journal into his backpack, and saw Mya, Yasmin and Maeve walking towards them. Tristen kissed Mya on the cheek and then she hugged Zay.
"I've got to babysit for Yasmin," she said as she pulled away from Zay. Maeve then hugged both Tristen and Zay.
"It's fine though cause Yas' a lot more fun than you, right guys?" Maeve said, winking at Yasmin. Mya shoved her a little, Yasmin laughed.
"It's great, we were just going to watch a movie then go bowling," Tristen said, he gave Yasmin a one-armed hug.
"I can watch another movie from you guys, don't worry. Mya kind of threatened me if I didn't," Yasmin said.
"Did not," Mya shot at Yasmin.
"Did so," Yasmin shot back. Maeve looked at Zay, he felt butterflies start in his stomach.
"What were you two doing before we arrived, all huddled together and whispering mysteriously," Maeve asked. Tristen and Zay glanced at each other.
"Nothing."
"Talking about sports." Zay and Tristen looked at each other. Maeve folded her arms and Mya glanced at both of them.
"They had a book," Yasmin said warily looking around the food court. Zay and Tristen 's head snapped at her. Zay's heart stopped a beat.
"What?" everyone said, though not for the same reasons. Yasmin waved at Zay's bag carelessly.
"In there, they shoved it into the bag when they saw us," Yasmin said, she obviously didn't find it that interesting, Zay thought, "can I get some food?"
"I... What?" Mya stuttered. Yasmin groaned and reached for Zay's bag and before Zay could stop her, she pulled out the old leather journal. Zay glanced at Tristen then at everyone else.
